• Bought a Danelectro doubleneck

Went and did it. Picking it up tonight. It's a silver sparkle electric doubleneck. I've been searching around and couldn't pass up the price. Anyone have one of these, or played one. I see alot of complaints about the six-string bridge. I'll see.

I saw one at Cowtown Guitars in Vegas recently. I liked the look of it, and at $500-something, not a bad deal. the one I saw was the blue sparkle.

is that around what you paid?

$299.00. I played it last night and I liked it. I was worried it wouldn't be comfortable, but it was fine. I may move the strap peg around to balance the weight a little more evenly. The guitar is white with sparkle, brown on the sides. Mint condition and Seymour Duncan replacement p/u on six-string side.

Only minus is, no case, so I'm in search of a case for this thing.

Since the guy isn't too far, I cut shipping costs by picking it up. Here's a pic.

Great deal Don !!!
Danos aren't bad at all. I haven't played the doublenecks but my uncle has a couple 6 strings and they play pretty decent. The only doubleneck i've ever paid was a Rickenbacker....

Here's a pic of it...yeah that's me

I like it. Of course I've heard good and bad, but I gotta decide for myself, and $299.00 wasn't a bad investment for a tryout.

I can't find a case for this damn thing. Been on the internet all morning.

Anyone!

Anyone!

Good price Don. A friend of mine just bought one at a guitar store on clearance for $500.00 and was as happy as a clam. They play and sound great. Good luck finding a case. I bet it would fit in a Rhoads case with some interior modification.

You ain't shittin! I can't find anything and I've been searching all day. I'll end up paying $500 for the case, and It'll include a 2nd guitar

I did see a site a couple of days ago where someone mentioned a certain type of gig bag for a Roland or something like that, that would fit a doubleneck in it, but I haven't been able to find that message.

By the way, Superfly. Nice looking Ricken!

Re: Bought a Danelectro doubleneck

It might be easier to build a case for that than to buy one.
You can buy some 1/8" plywood that has black vinyl laminate on one side, some 1"x2"s for the frame and the necks brace,
some aluminum trim, handles, hinges, latches and foam for the interior, some wood glue and 1-1/2 drywall screws and you'll have a near-ATA case. Many hardware stores that sell lumber will make straight cuts for free, so even if you don't have power tools other than a drill/driver, you can have them cut the plywood to size and then just assemble it. I built a case this way about 20 years ago and though it isn't pretty, the guitar inside it still is.

If you can't get the plywood with the vinyl laminate, you can just tolex it or even stain it for a different look.

I don't have a doubleneck, but a '59 DC...nice guitar, very cheap, unique sound!

if it were me I'd call up the Danelectro company and see if they could sell me a new one. or has that been attempted?

I've tried looking there as well as everywhere else.

As scarce as they are, they're probably more expensive than the guitar itself.

Yeah, but the cases are whole different ballgame. I think when people sell these guitars, they realize they can make more money by splitting up the guitar and the guitar case.
