• Edwards or Orville?

Which one would you go for? I have a hankering for a Black Ebony Custom, and I'm not sure.

I would prefer a Orville since its under Gibson, but the Rosewood fretboard kills it for me.

Edwards look really sleek, but are new so they don't have that used look I like.

If you want a LPC with Ebony fingerboard, then Edwards is the way to go.
There are some on Ebay now and they come with Duncans.
Orville by Gibson are made in Japan.Edwards are made in Korea.
For the price with decent pickups already been installed,I'd go with Edwards.

If you are considering Edwards you can PM me. I might have to sell mine soon, but it will be without pickups, because I sold the Duncans a while ago and I will keep my APCs.

Toru, Edwards are made in Japan as well.

I've also seen Orvilles with ebony boards, along with ebony-boarded Orville By Gibson.

Mike, I've got a whole list of Japanese sellers on Ebay that sell these kinds of guitars in various conditions. My particular Edwards '68 LPC has an aged satin look that I really love. It's not bashed around like a relic, but it has the look of a closet classic. Of course, you can bash it around yourself without fear of hurting a precious Gibson... Overall, the Edwards are a killer value, especially with the thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish, real Seymour Duncan pickups, long neck tenon construction like older Gibsons, Gotoh tuners, quality hardware, ebony board, killer fretwork, and a lot of different Les Paul models. Maybe I got a fluke, and others say that the Edwards are between ESP Standard quality and LTD Deluxe quality, but the playability and quality appear virtually in line with my Jackson USA Shannon Soloist... However, the one thing you won't get is real MOP inlays, but who friggin' cares? I have a highly workable guitar that kicks ass for way under a thousand dollars, and when you play on stage, nobody except your bassist is going to notice that your inlays aren't MOP. Here:

http://www.espguitars.net

The specs are in English. Check out all the various Les Paul models in particular. My satin black model E-LP-90LTC (Lacquer Top Custom) is everything I wanted in a black-and-gold Les Paul Custom with true ebony board, except for the aformentioned lack of MOP inlays. I also changed the cheesy tophat knobs for black Gibson speed/barrel knobs, and the tiny gold strap pins for gold Dunlop Dual-Design Straploks.

It is not 100% english but pretty straight-forward site.
