Re: GMW neck issue

Why not ask the guy who built it himself?

make a post over at mcs.acidpit.org

Neal will net you know the best way to do it and what meterials to use.

Periodically, unfinished necks need to be steel-wooled and re oiled (neal uses boiled linseed oil).

I have a buddy that has a GMW neck that the skunk strip is sticking out a bit towards the headstock. It is the only neck I have ever seen this happen too. I have had "hands on" with 4 or 5 different GMWs. They are, IMO, all hype.

truss rod for me yesterday and all is well.
I just get a kick out of the jabs people throw at Lee's turnaround times.

Agreed. I have actually figured out out how to do those little tweeks muyself (and they do kinda settle down after time). Mr. G. will actually walkyou through it if you call him. Not a big deal.

Interesting... I have the same issue on my GMW Jake. Doesn't bother me too much, but it's interesting to note that the humidity on Long Island can cause this. Kev, how are you going to do the fix?

Hey Ken

Upgraded the central air unit this summer. Came home one day and had water beading on my Charvel necks. I live on the water and when the fog rolls in here you get moisture on the floor and counter tops etc. I am not an A/C guy but had to give in.

I am working on these 2 necks tonight. I have some fine paper and then I will re-oil them

I tweeked the truss a bit but I am going to wait a few weeks before doing it again.

Kev

Agreed, It was a strathead body too. Lee had to widen the pocket to get the neck in.
