Re: Gibby Explorers

I have always loved Explorers! I've got 3 older ones (1976 with added Kahler, 1976 all stock, and 1977 all stock) all are natural mahogany. The 1976's have huge necks which I've come to really like, and the 1977 neck is just a bit thinner. I've played the 1976 reissues in the store and the necks feel a bit smaller, and the few I've tried sounded great. You can find a nice used one for well under a grand.

I'd love to have a Matthais Jabs, Gibson, white single hum, with those cool inlays, black hardware and a Floyd too! I don't know if they ever produced them. I think it was maybe 1990 if they did, or model 90 or something like that?

I have a black '91 I got from Siggy, and it's awesome. It's a lot of fun to play, it sounds great and harmonics just fly out of anywhere you play. Great guitar, very tough to put down.

Surprising such a great guitar has gone through so many hands. It's a blast to play!

Yah. I miss that one. Was the best gibby explorer I ever owned. I had locking grovers on it and a stoptail with fine tuners on it at one point. It stayed in tune great and sounded killer. Harmonics were insane on that one. Also light too. Take care of it Jim777. That one is a keeper.
