• What Gripes You The Most About Warmoth?

I love Warmoth products and have bought many bodies and necks from them and will continue to do so. But......that darn rear control cavity! You can play the Super Bowl in it. I was talking with Ken Warmoth last week about a custom order and I wanted a smaller cavity and told him the one he does is too big. Well he told me that it was gonna cost me to make another template, around $225! Why, the '70's are over. We aren't going to be putting active electronics in these guitars! Just insane. I bet half the wood in the body is gone in that control cavity. You probably could fit the control panel for the space shuttle in there!

none at all, considering all I've ordered from them was a custom birdseye maple/maple neck. great fretjob, excellent quality wood, a bit expensive but hey that's what you get into with custom shit. it plays amazing.

Yea, I just ordered a bunch of stuff from Musikraft. Enough to keep me busy for the next year. I sent Tommy at USACG a quote package out the same time as Warmoth. He never responded. Oh well. Musikraft got the business.
Yea, Warmoth was going to charge me a one time fee of $225 for a smaller rout. I told him dude, there are plenty more players out their that would buy your rear rout bodies, if only you would get rid of that swimming pool in the back.

prices are high, and I'd love to see them make proper 24 fret necks, and sculpted heeled bodies like Ibanez AANJ (i know they do a minor heel job, but nothign significant)

I'd think their sales would go up a lot if they offered Ibanez comptiable neck pockets, as theres always lotsa old Ibanez gear to mod.

However, they dont have any plans for anything like that, which is a shame!

Their unwavering allegience to The Fender Way regarding neck heels, pockets, radii, profiles, etc etc. They get all that right, but then if what you want doesn't fit that mold, they go Rainman on you.

But then Jackson's the same way: Want a DXMG reverse-headed, bound, finlaid neck on a DK-2? Sorry, that's physically impossible because the spec sheet says it's not made that way.
Like it's sooo difficult to change one line in a spec sheet and re-save it with an "R" extension?

Well, they do make a proper 24-fret bolt-on neck with no overhang... it's short scale, though. But then you'd have to pay like $50 extra on a body for them to move the bridge closer to the neck.

If you are ordering a body or neck to be built, any body or neck they should be able to rout the thing for you to do a set neck. Why? They are building the part from scratch for you in many cases, why not get the template for that bit of carving.

How great would that be to build a set neck guitar from Warmoth parts?

My issue only issue is that in my experirence, the necks are not that happy adjusting to the climate on the east coast and I found that the truss rod did not respond like my other guitars. But one she settled down, its actually a great playing neck.

Maybe you need only to order the Eastern Hard Rock maple only! This way it wood (pun intended) be coming back to it's native birthplace, thus no problems!

My only gripe is that most of the necks in the showcase have their compound radius, which I can't stand. Wish they'd stock more constant radius necks.

The fact that they top route the figured maple bodies so you can cover the figure up with plastic. I dont know wny they cant route those tops on demand. the pickguard ruins the whole dame body...talk about a bidg control cavity.
