Re: What Gripes You The Most About Warmoth?

Hidden Charges thats my main gripe they dont really have it in B&W enough so most people dont realise they end up paying extra I dont perticualrly mind but some things area bit ott....

I will however be buying a simple body and neck that i will spray myself ill probably get them to satin finish the neck though as it'll be coming to the uk...

I might paint it metallic blue after seeing a sweet charvel yesterday witha maple board allthough mine will be two hums and a Floyd and a dinky shape...

Re: What Gripes You The Most About Warmoth?

There are other options guys but like as Matt said warmoth is geared to anything Fendery. Thats not a bad thing but if you are going for a Chavrel or Jackson feel why not go for parts better suited for the job. I'm into full sized charvel bodies. I have them from Blackhorse, USACG and a couple custom made ones, all closer than what you can get from the licsened Fender shops. Same deal for the necks since I'm not willing to spend a 5k for a Charvel strathead I build my own replicas. I like my own neck profile on the back, Musikraft lets you select any option you want from woods, frets, radius and headstock. I have 3 Musikraft necks and will get more. One of them needed the fret ends to be smoothed out a little more but thats not big deal to me.

The responses are getting interesting. Warmoth still has the statement requesting a Jackson DK1 neck to be loaned. It's been there for awhile. I wonder if they got one? If they start producing a nice Jackson replacement 24 fret neck that is one step heading in the right direction. They need to make more changes in order to compete with the current market.

Doesn't warmoth actually make and sell smaller templates?

+ Infinity on the top-routing of highly figured tops. That's utterly 'tarded.

And DO NOT get their "Soloist" body - it is the most uncomfortable "thing" I've had the displeasure of owning, and was very happy to see it go away. It was a beautiful 5A Quilt, but I could NOT abide the belly-cut or the arm-cut.

Re: What Gripes You The Most About Warmoth?

Some people want the figure top with a pickguard, personally I don't get it but hey, if thats what they want. I think its a waste of awesome wood. But if you don't want it you don't have to get it so its really a non issue. The Soloist body rocks, I don't like the carve on the top as much as Jackson but I find the contours to be almost more comfortable than jackson.

I find this bitching about the control routes to be hilarious. That would be one of the last things that would be a deal breaker for me. Sure I wouldn't mind if it was a bit smaller but in the grand scheme of things who cares? It may even improve resonance.

The refusal to use real MOP and abalone on anything other than dots is incredibly stupid IMO, I have a strong dislike for moto inlays, which means I am pretty much confined to getting dot inlays on a warmoth neck.

1. After being in business all these years and I still can not order from their web site
2. Synthetic inlays
3. The control rout

I still love their necks and will probably order more, as for their bodies I have a lot better source at a heck of a lot better price with the routs that most of here love
