If we're talking "look", I'd say that any "non-traditional" body style (explorer, v, rr, bich, warlock, etc) pretty much screams "metal". When I think of more traditional "hard rock/metal", I think of Jackson Soloists and Ibanez RGs...

I'd say Glenn Tipton's Explorer-esque Hamer (forget what it's called). There's a video on the Priest site of him and KK going through all their guitars, and he explains how he made that one up.
