• 83 Gibson LPC/EVH Art Series

I have been offered a B/Y EVH in like new condition for my 83 white/yellow LPC. It is in very good condition aside from a few chips through the finish at the tip of the headstock and a few surface scratches that could probably be buffed out. What do you guy's think? Is it a fair trade? lately all I play are my charvels.

I wouldn't trade my white LPC for that, but that's just me. I know that once it was gone, it would be sorely missed. And no, I don't play mine that frequently either, but it is a keeper.

I second that. I've been offered some pretty sweet deals for my black LPC but I'll never let it go even though it sees mostly case time. I've bought/sold many LPC's but when you find the right one (as it seems you have), you need to hold onto it (as I have done).

If all you play are your Charvels, ditch the LP. They are a dime a dozen. The EVH's are great IMHO.

I've been looking for a Black or White custom (70's on up). If you can get one under $2K, you are doing good, unless I'm not looking in the right place (ebay).

Re: if you will regret selling, I still regret selling my early 1970's black LPC back in 1990. I couldn't stand the "Fretless Wonder" low frets. I went into GC Hollywood and picked up another Fretless Wonder, and I still HATE the low frets, and I still regret selling!!!

And now I'm joansing for one?

I would keep the LP, especially if it's nice. You will not be able to replace it what you sold it for. I don't play mine all the time either, but I know where it is. I don't believe the EVH's are going to appreciate much. I'd be on the look out for the rumored "New" EVH model. Lets see what Namm offers in January.

Keep the LPC and save some pennies. It will be easier to get an EVH used than to replace you LPC IMHO.

Single-hum and Floyd vs 2 hum and non-trem?

I think I'd stick with the LP. When people see you with a white LPC, they think "Randy", but don't expect you to whip out Randy's licks. When they see you with an EVH, they expect nothing but VH.

Keep the LP. Most guys regret it when they sell a nice one.

                        bah, toss a coin.

One thing to consider, LPCs are everywhere. Ten years from now they will be everywhere. I had a truly kickass one that I sold to fund a Charvel. I've never regretted it. Whenever I think about it, I just look on Ebay and there are tons of 'em. I do regret selling my '68 goldtop for $375 back in '84 though

Tim, I regret trading my mint condition Gretch White Falcon for a Japanese Aria Pro 2 Urchin back in the very early 80's. Top that!!
