  • Thoughts on Schecter California Custom?

I´m thinking about picking up a 1990 Schecter California Custom, which sports a strathead and a solid quilt body. I don´t have any experience with these old Schecters, and I can´t try it out before I buy it, but I´m guessing they´re pretty killer. Does anyone here own one of these?

Dave, I own an old Schecter PT Tele, and it's the cat's meow. has these old Anderson pickups in it, as I guess he was involved back then,

Its an awesome guitar, go for it!

Cool. That´s nice to hear! This one has Schecter´s own pickups, apparently called Monstertone and Superrock. I don´t know if Anderson was involved in those, but I bet they sound pretty good.

I´ve been jonesing for a more "classic" superstrat for a couple or years, to complement my Soloists and Collen archtops... and this looks like a prime candidate. He wants about half of what a high-end Valley Arts or a Anderson would sell for, and I guess it´d be money well spent.

The Monstertone pickups are exactly what I am talking about. They look the same now as they did then.

Allright, nice! I´ve asked him for some better pics, since he hinted that there might be some dings present and that a fret job is overdue... but all in all I think I´m gonna go for it.
