Siggy-Try a PC1. You will love it especially if you like the tone and feel of a Les Paul with a '59 neck! I think that was where Phil Collin was headed when he started replacing his Les Paul's, plus going to 24 frets. The PC1 is much more comfortable playing while seated than the Les Paul.

Yeah i have thought of one of them, got a qoute on price etc.. Maybe someday in the future. You know one of my favorite guitars to play is my Kramer baretta, one of the new ones, neck thru, alder body, all maple neck, the guitar is in par to my les paul's in tone, go figure a cheap ass guitar could get such a great tone.

That Les Paul is way ugly. You better let me hold onto it for you until you get something prettier... I'd feel bad if you had to play something like that. Trust me, you should just send that to me, and save your misery...

That is the exact Paul I have been wanting for years, because of the 50`s neck, color and Grovers. I think Gibson has messed up with the Standards these days, with the Klusen tuners and the optional 60`s neck. I wouldn`1t buy a new one, well maybe a Standard Raw Power. Jack.

          [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah basicaly man. I tried out a bunch of the new ones, didnt like the 60s neck too much, but loved the fatter 50s. But I also wasn't extatic about any of the finishes offered now. The desertburst was close, but seeing a couple in real life, wasn't exactly what i liked.

So I searched for tobacco and vintage sunburst on ebay and up popped this one. Called the dude up, he said it is just like the new 50s-style neck, and I was sold

THanks for the compliments, I really like this thing.

          Didn't know the PC1s had a LP-like neck... cool.

I'd have bet the Jazz'R had the fat LP neck

              Re: My Gibson LP

i actually like the newer pauls and like the 60's neck. I had one of the green ones, what did they call that, geeko green or something, great guitar. but for awhile i was denying my love for thin necks and trying to get away from them, damn was i stupid. I wish i still had that gecko and worse of all my 1995 les paul classic, that was the best sounding best playing les paul i have had. I paid 1050 for it, i actualy made 50 bucks when i sold it, but i miss it.

                Re: My Gibson LP

oh the newer pauls you can get with a 50's neck and cheaper normaly used as most people are looking for the 60's. The people wanthing the thicker necks usually just by a reissue.

Hell yeah man. I was looking at the desert burst before I found the vintage sunburst.

the desertbursts I saw had a bit too much red for my taste, but Skins, you got a very nice burst there!

                          Re: My Gibson LP

Skins- Yeah they should sound about the same. I noticed a SLIGHT difference between the sounds. I have the 490r/498t humbuckers instead of the newer burstbuckers you have.

Mine is a 2001 Standard Plus model, meaning they didn't have the 50s/60s neck. But it is basicaly like the 50s neck, thicker neck than the 60s neck for sure. It also has Grover tuners and a couple other small differences than the new Standards, but yeah, very similar. Man, your Desertburst looks way better than the one's I've played localy! Again, truly a great finish on a great guitar!

Thor- Yeah, i guess it runs in our Viking blood haha. Where are you from? Never seen a LP bass like that, very cool bro!

It's nice to meet another Thor who isn't some dumb goth kid who made it his nickname

I'm originally from the East Coast, but now in Cali. Got the Thor knickname from my friends in college because I had shoulder length headbanging blonde hair and I'm 6'6". Hair is cut now... Still love metal though..hehe.

I'm kinda bummed right now. I tried winning a 1977 Les Paul Custom but lost. Don't have the money, don't need a third LP, but damn.

Thanks Todd, but I already have that one in my watch list (with a whole lot of friends. I don't know what is wrong with me - I need another LP like I need a hole in the head, but I'm just majorly johnsing for a Black LP Custom from the 70's right now. Here is the one I lost out on:

                                http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEDW%3AIT&rd=1

Take a look at how thin that neck is - awesome! Those years Gibson used maple for the necks (probably why they could get it so thin). I sent an email to the buyer saying if the newbe flakes, contact me.

Sorry Thor for hijacking your thread with my LP issues.
