Here's a group shot:

    Some close-ups:

I am the original owner of the purple Rand and it was my main live guitar from '88-'93 and again from '98-'00. It an amazing player and in great shape but with the typical battle scars of a live axe. All original except for the pickup ring (the original black one (broken) in in the case). Anderson H2+ in bride and proprietary Anderson single coil in neck (no longer made), OFR trem, mahogany body and neck with pau ferro board.

The white Rand is a more recent acquisition. Seems to be all original except for the electronics. I dropped a Duncan Custom Shop El Diablo (poles instead of bars, sounds a bit like a JB on steroids) and a hotrails. Plays and feels very much like the purple one and also has it's share of bumps and bruises. This one snarls a bit more than others...not as smooth as the purple.

The Rand prototype sports an H2+ and an OFR trem. Finish work and contours are not up to the production models and the neck it a bit chunkier, but it still plays and sounds fantastic. Tom Anderson verified that this is truley an original Rand prototype.

The following is a photo of the birdseye and figuring of the custom shop Strat neck that I thought I would share:

Cool Rands! I remember picking one up a long time ago and trying to figure out what to do with the extra frets!!

                  Re: My Collection...Jackson, Rand, Others

Those Rands remind me of Hamer Californians.

How is the sustain on the Rand - its got a pretty small headstock? Is the neck thin like an Ibanez or a Jackson Soloist?

                      Re: My Collection...Jackson, Rand, Others

The Rands have tremendous sustain for locking trem guitars. The necks are fairly thin, just slightly larger than a Jem 777 that I used to own...and very fast and stable. It is my understanding that the Hamer Californian was their take on the Rand design.
