  • carvin headstock question

is carvin offering this headstock again?

    http://www.carvin.com/products/gis.p...B&serial=83642

that's a link from guitars they currently have in stock. i prefer that head to the one they use now. their site is fairly useless as far as being able to actually find out (actually i am just to lazy to dig around).

    anybody know?

Yes, but don't confuse that headstock with the 1989 only Carvin lawsuit neck. The 1989 headstock has a slimmer profile and is more pointy. It is almost exactly like the Jackson pointy. That is why Carvin had to stop making them.
In order for you to get the newer style pointy headstock you have to ask customer service for it.

Yes, supposed to be a $100 up charge though and you lose the 10 day return policy. Don't know what one is doing in the guitars in stock section.

It must have been either a catalog guitar, a return or a cancellation.

          Re: carvin headstock question

I would guess it was a cancellation, since you can't return guitars with that headstock.

They actually used the Jackson headstock in both 1988 and '89, and I think they made the switchover to the modified pointy in late '89. I prefer the Jackson headstock, which seems less awkward, but either is more interesting than the boring rounded in-line headstock they use now. Now if Carvin would just bring back the 24.75" scale, angled neck, decent quality electronics, and strat-body option on the DC neckthrus, I'd be all over that.

If Carvin would just offer 7-strings without the stupid rounded body sides.

Having owned one briefly, trust me when I say that you are way better off with the Stars 7 and your upcoming KXK. As much as I didn't fall in love with that Stars, it kicked ass over the Carvin.
