If Fender has new noiseless technology it seems logical that EJ would have wanted to leverage that when designing his set.

I hear you Jim. My guess is that he is using the new Samarium noiseless design and having the upper coil that is active custom wound to his specs. They are basically designed just like the Dimarzio HS series with the difference being the lower stacked coil is just for noise cancellation and not for a true dual humbucking mode.

HOLY COW! Are you dense? For the THIRD time... The Fender EJ pickups ARE SINGLE COILS WITH ONE SINGLE COIL IN EACH PICKUP!

[/ QUOTE ]

Yea. I'm dense, and since we figured that out... how does EJ eliminate the hum associated with his SINGLE COIL IN EACH PICKUP pickups.
Wait.. I think I figured it out. Its either one of 2 things:
He either doesn't use his own signature EJ pickups
OR
He plays live and records with 60hz hum and has figured out a way to incorporate it into his tone. Maybe its something to do with harmonics??

Well, I don't know about how EJ cancels hum live, nor do I care what he actually uses. I read the question to be what are the Fender EJ pickups. Sorry about calling you dense, maybe it is me that is dense...

i didnt know about all the strats having humbucking in 2 and 4 positions this is my first strat i stayed away from them because of the tight neck radius but when i saw that the ej had the 12" radius and jumbo frets i was curious so i checked one out and damn it i ended up buying it. i will say this you can get pretty heavy with the gain and the noise is not that bad. i never thought i would like singles but im really getting into the dynamics of them.now all i have to do is wear all that sticky nitro off the neck

You know how threads progress!!! My original post just asked if anybody knew what EJ used in his strats and the thread took a life of its own. Its actually a very informative thread. Especially for us dense guys!! Just kidding bro. Thanks for all the responses!

I love singles myself, especially P-90's, and they do sound awesome right up until the point where they sound terrible! I should check out the whole guitar maybe, instead of just waiting on the pickups. And Finger Ease will help with that nitro-stickiness.
