• Dean Vendetta 4 ?

hi there

so i'm still searching for guitars (didn't score the schecter c1, some bastard thought he had to outbid me in the very last second).
to just skip a lot of the usual useless talk, is the dean vendetta 4 any good? i'm particulary interested in the trans blue one. mahogany body, neck through, string through body, grover tuners, no dot inlays, two humbuckers....this is exactly what i'm looking for. i'm just rather worried about it, as i don't have any first hand experience with dean guitars, and because the vendetta 4 is only 499 euro new - which is VERY affordable, but also gives me that "cheap beginner's guitar" impression.
basically, do you think they are on par with schecter c-series, jackson dk6 COW, charvel model 4-6 and similar?

thanks in advance....if you guys tell me they're decent guitars despite of the kinda low price i'll get me a nice christmas present

Re: Dean Vendetta 4 ?

I've played one and they are excellent guitars for the price. Def comparable or a cut above to the import Jacksons (never played a Schecter but I hear good things about them).

I wouldn't be surprised if the Dean Vendetta and the Schecter C-1 came from the same factory. They're almost identical.

mmh...sounds cool. seems like you guys are backing me up on my decision. still kinda unsure about the color - see thru blue can look awesome or crappy, depends on the quality of the maple deck, so i need to think about the color (either bog standard black, or see thru blue - i'd love to have a see thru black, but they only offer this one for the vendetta 2 which is a bolt on...nono).
thanks guys, keep 'em coming!

OT: talking about great finishes....the most beautiful guitar i've ever seen was - of course - a jackson USA soloist. it had a killer see thru green with nice chrome hardware....man, i'd love to own this one, but then again...USA = $$$.....they wanted 1800 euro for it. no way

any more comments (especially negative ones)?
if nobody comes up and posts some horror stories, i'll definitely get one the day after tomorrow. likely the trans blue one.

Re: Dean Vendetta 4 ?

today i received my see thru blue vendetta 4. i haven't set it up (yet), as i don't have any new strings right now, but so far the paintjob looks AWESOME (i was really worried about the blue being too bright, but it definitely isn't...thank god for that!), the build quality is decent esp. for the price (good fretjob, crappy setup (as usual ), the electronics look clean and work without any noise....only some very minor cosmetic flaws around the creme fretboard binding, but definitely hardly visible). the grover tuners are great just as they're supposed to be, the pots work smoothly and noise free, neck is perfectly straight, intonation seems to be dead on.
as i said, i haven't really messed with the setup yet, so i can't tell for sure right now, keep that in mind.
ok, having that said, it might need a pickup change....the stock pickups seem to be rather muddy, and definitely much lower output than an EMG81 or a dimarzio steve's special, but maybe it's possible to fix that by giving it a proper setup.
ah yeah, and it's surprisingly light. i expected a very heavy guitar due to the mahogany body, but it's quite light, mainly because of the rather thin body. the neck is thin, thinner than my J/C's, and the high fret access is AMAZING...gotta love neck through

one question, though: the pickups have a really cool looking chrome cover. does anybody know if these can be removed? i'd hate to change these great looking (but seemingly rather muddy sounding) pickups for some great sounding but ordinary black ones. any ideas or suggestions? btw, i kinda dig the low output...makes my 5150's clean channel MUCH better...they need a clearer bottom end and less fuzzy highs, though.

hi fragle i'm also interested in match vendetta 4.0 vs Schecter C1, i think i'll buy the secondo one, for me the classic or the hellraiser are very cool! but i think the direct rival of vendetta 4.0 is the C1 plus. In italy are both pretty rare so i have to order it without prove them.
