I bought an Ibanez RG7620 in late 1997 just shortly after they came out. I played it for a little while, but kinda lost interest as I was using it mostly for rhythm and was able to detune successfully with regular 6 string guitars. Also, around that time I was having some tendonitis problems which really didn't go well with the width of a 7 string neck, so after a year of ownership the 7620 was gone.
Move forward to 2005. I don't detune near as much as I used to back in the day, but I do still like to from time to time. And unlike before I actually like the idea of using a 7 string for more than rhythm. I *have* had several instances of playing detuned 6 strings where I wish I had that high E string. A high B string just doesn't cut it for leads IMO. So I started looking at 7 strings again....
I like the Schecter 7 strings, but I don't like the 26.5" scale. I loved the feel and shape of the unfinished maple neck on my RG7620. I don't see myself using a tremolo, so I looked into 7621's. I wanted a white one, but got a great deal on a black one on Ebay. For just a hair over $370 I got a black RG7621 in nice shape with an original Universe hardshell case. That's my first guitar purchase in at least a couple years.
Sorry no pics.
