Re: my $149.00 shredder
I'd have said that was made before the 90's, but my knowledge of Yamaha guitars is kind of limited - whatever, if it's a decent player, for that price, that's a bargain!Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

Re: my $149.00 shredder
This Yamaha was made around 84-86 I have the 612A & a 1212S neck thru with ebony board, both made in the same time frame. These yamaha's are very underrated & this guitar sold new for 350.00 you scored big time if you ever let it go let me know , consider it sold already. if you need more info like on the bridge specs, what ever let me know, I've been playing the RGX series since 84 i love them almost as much as my 90's pro Warriors. > I almost bought one of the 1212's back in the day,and chose not to because of the trem,in this time frame it might be impossible to find parts for. I wound up buying my 5FX instead. Re: my $149.00 shredder
Yeah, you have to monitor Ebay for years to get parts trems for 'em; I have 2 parts trems that cost me like $15 each.
Meantime I put a used Schaller Floyd on my 1220, which fits the spacing but not quite the recess, so it won't pull much.
The 1220 I got for $65 because the bridge was missing a saddle and the parts were unavailable from Yamaha! So for future reference Floyds do fit on them. You'd have to route the recess width just a tad, but I left mine alone so I can restore it to stock if I want. The stock trems do work well if maintained properly, I have no problems with my 1221's trem either.Ron is the MAN!!!!
