  • Washburn Import Idol Model

    Alright guys,

I've seen every single guitar under the sun from you guys on these boards. I haven't seen many (or any that I can think of) Washburns. I never really considered them to be up there with Jackson, Dean, Anderson, Moore, whatever else, but I was surfing on a site and there is a special run being made for Nick from BLS. I don't think I can post the link to the board because it's from another dealer, but I'll try and copy the stuff here. I think these look amazing, and apparently there's another run made in blue that's coming next week. I'm seriously thinking of dropping by Gibson Gothic for one of these, in green though. What do ya'll think?

Here's the info from the board:

1st... We are awaiting the arrival of our First run, Washburn/BSG Blue Quilt Nick Catanese EVIL TWIN Signature Idol Guitars. From a construction standpoint, Washburn indicates everything has been somewhat on schedule- however, EMG is backordered on humbuckers and therefore, that is the delay in their arrival. This fact, coupled with the customs/etc associated with ship containers...we are playing the very patient waiting game. EVERYTHING is a GO on the Blue Quilts... we are axiously awaiting their arrival. Revealing this Green Quilt Proto here has **NOTHING** to do with the Blue Quilts - in any way. Different project, different guitar and green quilt is a Late Spring/Early Summer 2006 delivery.

2nd... This is a *PROTO* - while I've emailed Nick the pictures he has not give his final approval at the time of this post... however we have reviewed the specs at creation and I feel this guitar is about 90 percent accurate. Again- This is the PROTO.

3rd... You will notice this guitar is the FULL 2 INCHES thick PLUS the maple cap! This is **THE** exact body thickness of ALL the BSG Idol runs and it's FANTASTIC!!!! This is an EXCELLENT feeling guitar - better than ANY import Idol Fred or I have EVER held or felt - AMAZING.

4th... We have more things coming and I personally thank EVERYONE for been patient and it's very hard for ME to be patient as well! But... good comes to those who wait and I think the final results of things will be AMAZING!

So... Check out these **PROTOTYPE** Washburn/BSG Limited Custom Import Nick Catanese Signature EVIL TWIN Idol Guitar in Green Quilt with Gold...

Looks cool, what do ya think?

    Re: Washburn Import Idol Model

Well, I have a low end Washburn acoustic, and it is one of the nicest sounding acoustic guitars I've played or heard. My dad is a leisure player and I bought him a BT model electric and it's a pretty solid player. I've just ordered my son one, which should be a good starter for him. I've played a couple other electrics in my day, and they're not too bad...

I've played the Nuno and Dime models and they seemed like pretty solid guitars. I dunno man, I'm really thinking about it. I don't like the body shape too much, but I like everything else about it. I also like the fact that it's not as big as my Explorer, so I might actually play it more often. Guess we'll see...I have my amps now, I'm set with those for a good long time, but other than my strat, I've got nothing to really get my metal going once I sell the Gothic.

Wow looks amazing. The board looks ebony and the inlays real shell, yeah? Any pics of the blue? Do they have any of the blue remaining?

Those are the blues ones. They should actually be in stock any week now he said. I actually like these a little more than the USA ones

Can't say I like the blue one as much. Plus that one is obviously rosewood.

Does the green one have ebony like I guessed? Are the inlays real MOP/Abalone?

                    Re: Washburn Import Idol Model

Ya know I'm not 100% on the specs. I think the green one will have ebony, real mop, tone pros bridge and a real maple top, not a veneer. I don't know if the blue one is the same. Some people know how to post specs properly and others just give a quick run down. I'll e-mail Eric tomorrow and ask him complete details. Here are the threads I was reading:

                        Re: Washburn Import Idol Model

I have 20 Washburns, mostly US models. You dont have to worry about quality in their mid and high range guitars. The US version of the Idol are amazing guitars, never tried the imports though..........
