• Fender Strat guys need advice!?

I am considering seriously one of these in Olympic white with rosewood board.
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/...se_pid/510408/

Are they worth it?

I always wanted a vintage one but I heard they are hit and miss in quality from this era.
I heard these reissues are great. I have owned tons of SD Jacksons that are neck thru as well as custom shops and ESPees as well. I find that now adays I am playing more traditional stuff like my Les Paul custom and I almost always play my 88 Tom Anderson strat now. My neck thrus Jacksons kind of sit.

Ultimattley is this the purchase to make?

Fender = inconsistancy. If you want a strat, get a Suhr. Fender are just a waste of time IMO. Say "NO" to Fenders. bwhahahaha

Btw, best sounding Fender i've ever hear/play is a boardcaster. but that thing is impossible to play...

It is definitely worth it if you are a big fan of that era Strat. They are very well built, better than the originals, and are fantastic to play. The price may seem a bit steep but not when you compare it to other custom shop guitars or the originals. They definitley have a different look, tone, and feel from other Strats that many people prefer.

I would advise you to look elsewhere for a better deal though, it shouldn't be hard to find one.

I used to think the same way. Dont play Fenders dont drive Fords. You know Fender has changed in the last ten years for the better, I would never buy a run of the mill Fender USA but I am intrested in the high end stuff because if you play any of Fender's new stuff it really is nice quality. The Masterbuilt series is nice also but I have a hard time finding a used one in the color style I want.

I love my Tom Andersons they rock pretty much the exact same thing as a Suhr.

Keep the opinions coming especially if you have played one of these NOS strats. Believe me I will shop for the best deal I was giving the link to MF as an example so people would know what I was talking about for sure.

Let me translate Fongs response:

I know you are seriously considering a new Mazda 3 Mr. Jones but their build quality is very inconsistant. Step over here and let me show you this custom built Ferrari F50.
Most guys who are looking in the MF catalog at strats aren't considering a Suhr as an option.
BTW... those Fenders are sweet and they are very consistant. I would suggest playing before you buy though. They aren't hard to find.

bwhahahaha.. But AK is looking at something that is out of an average Jones' spectrum. Therefore, he should go with a Ferrari instead. hehehehe

I reckon i need to go try out the newer Fenders as the only ones i played were either too old or during the crap era. hahahah

Re: Fender Strat guys need advice!?

Well, I'm no fan of Suhr guitars. I get that they are well made and all that but I've never had one in my hands that felt good to me.

Same goes for Tyler (plus they have the ugliest headstocks ever made).

My preference for overpriced Strat's are Fender Custom shop and Grosh guitars. Much better for me.

As for Fender quality and consistency, I have to completely disagree with Fong. Fender makes fantastic guitars in all price ranges and has for many years.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

Yeah, have to agree, Tyler's headstock sure is fulgy. hahaha

As for fender making fanctastic guitars in ALL price ranges... Not really... On a good day, I can find a mexican strat that plays well or even better than a US one. Hard to call that consistency imo..

Re: Fender Strat guys need advice!?

The consistancy is pretty good with Fender. As with any manufacturer you can get a bad one. Two years ago I ordered a Malmsteen from MF. When it came in, I gave it a good check over. The first thing I noticed was the grain showing through the finish, then the relief, and action was horrible and some of the fret ends were sticking out. Back it went to MF, which exchanged it out and sent me another one. No questions asked. This one was perfect. Fender QA must have had a bad day when they sent the first one out. Once in awhile a bad one gets through. At least if you get this one and you don't like it you can send it back. Recently I got a Strat Junior (MIM). Very nice quality and workmanship. Go for it!

i would think that if you are going to spend that kind of money it would be better to go to a local mom/pop dealer than MF,for that better after the sale service ..setup warranty issues etc..might be worth a few extra $

I'm not a guru on this whatsoever, but I would buy an Anderson or G&L before a Fender. My G&L Legacy didn't cost near that much and is a very kickass guitar (USA Made also)

Never to big of strat fan but A buddy bought the 50th with the gold hardware and the s1 pickups-these guitars are awesome-Another just bought the deluxe with the S1 same guitar only no anneversary-everyone should have one including me3-save 1200 and pickup one of the deluxes with the s1's for 1k these are some of the best buys out there.

Fender is putting out some of the best most consistent product out there.

Hmmm..I've played a 40th, they are nice guitars for the price and i don't reckon Fender would be dumb enough to put an Anniversary on the shelf that's going to give them a bad rep.

As for the other "regular" US Fenders, as mentioned, if i can find a Mexi strat that can beat a US strat on a good day, i won't call that consistent.

My two cents of crap..bwhahahahaha

G&L are great guitars, i love the ones that were made in the early 90s where they have very thin layer of paint and clear coat.

And the early Asat sounds just too beautiful.

Btw, which era Legacy you have? If i recall correctly, they made a run with duncans in them.
