Re: Fender Strat guys need advice!?

It's the matter of massive production, regarding the tech mistakes. When I got my guitar, another came to the music store. Same thing, only black finish. Totally twisted neck, scratchy pots ... Too bad.

I assume that has a 7.25" radius? I just can't stand that radius.

An inexpensive Strat style guitar is a used USA Hamer Daytona. I own a 1996 model and love it. Love its 14.5" radius too.

get the ej. nitro finish, vintage pickups and the neck has jumbo frets with a 12"radius.

I just picked up a 1994 MIM Fender Strat. Its just a standard model. Why do I mention it?
It has absolutely the lowest action with NO string buzz of any guitar I have ever owned or played. Its almost too low yet it doesn't buzz at all and has outstanding action and tone. Its amazing.

This is the reason I am looking at a Fender strat. After owning custom shop Jacksons ESP and even boutique makers like Ken Lawrence I am gravitating more toward simple bolt on strats and have noticed many of the great players that once played SD Jacksons are now a days playing Fender strats.

Re: Fender Strat guys need advice!?

I dont know about the QC of Fender on a grand scale, but I can say I've spent thousands on guitars, Jackson Soloist, Ibanez Universe, Satriani Ibanez, and my $200.00 gently used Mexican Strat. While I liked the Ibanez's, and love my SLSMG, the mexi strat is a strong, well-built, and beautifully playing guitar. I play it almost, if not as much as my Jackson.

Like I said, I'm not too educated when it comes to the QC overall when it comes to Fender, but if I can buy a mexican made $200 guitar from them, and it sounds and plays as well as guitars I've spent upwards of 2k on, they must be doing something right.

Also, I've talked to/heard from a few people who have owned the USA standards, who have played the cheaper models and regretted even trying the lower-end models... as they sometimes turn out to be comparable in sound/playability as their expensive counterparts.

Try before ya buy is the moral I guess.

Re: Fender Strat guys need advice!?

I think that almost all of the guitars discussed thus far start life as fine instruments - Jackson, Fender, Ibanez, Gibson, etc. I think getting shipped in poor packaging, packed in shipping containers, sitting in warehouses for months (or sometimes years at the big chains), sitting in the back of the store for even more months (or years), and finally the abuse some instruments take on the showroom floor is more than enough to mess up your first impression of a guitar. And it doesn't help that the folks in the stores don't usually have the time to do a bit of basic maintenance on these guitars.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

I've got a strat, and I think it's great. I also have played some that are ass.
