For me it's all about the Taylors. Having said that, I recently got an Ibanez Euphoria EP-7 from Matt for an excellent price. I was pleasantly surprised with the guitar. I had played one at NAMM and wasn't impressed but took a chance anyhow. I'm glad I did. Very nice and unique looking guitar that is also in your budget.

Takamine makes some good stuff in that price range as well.

Just another guy saying check out the Seagulls, especially for the <$500 category. I don't see how they make such nice, resonant guitars at those prices.
