  • Opinions on Cort

I've only played one before, wich was a great bang for the buck. Tommorow i'm going to try out a CL1000(used). Any stuff these guitars are weak of that i won't see immediately, build quality etc.. What do you guys think, this or an epiphone? Are the mighty mite pickups any good?

    Re: Opinions on Cort

I had a Cherry sunburst LP Cort... it was alright for the price (traded a bass for it, paid $120 for the bass) but it was really cheap feeling.. didnt like the wood tone either, but if you changed the hardware it might be good, just with stock everything it wasnt good

        Re: Opinions on Cort

i had a cort explorer with built in effects back in 1988. it was okay, i guess. i was in a trash band and my "tone" was everything on the amp turned to 10. so i don't how good the cort was. i listen to the recording we made back then (i was 14) and my tone was terrible. The Mighty Mite pickups are actually quite decent. A friend of mine bought a Cort something or other to play while I was making a new nut for his Odyssey. The pickups were the best part. The build quality was okay, but the guitar felt cheap, and the fretwork was somewhat lacking.

i play some models a month ago.I played them unplugged so i'll tell you the feelings

              Kx-5...mmm stay away
Z-44 this one was good for the price.
              G-250...too bad
An X series neckthrough with emgs, not bad but i think that any ibanez rg from 470 will beat it
Definitly...i'll never buy a cort electric.
The acoustics looks and plays much better!

The Z-44 is the one my friend has. You'd be much better off spending your money on an SX or Agile from Rondo.

+1 on the Agile's from Rondo. They are great guitars for the $. And I believe they have a very generous return policy if you don't like your purchase.

THAT i can vouch for!!!!! my agile 3000 prestige is one of my main players, and i have USA Jackson, PRS, and Hamer guitars in my collection. not only is the agile well built, it looks great, feels killer and after changing the pickups i have no problem using it live.
for $369.00 this guitar can't be beat!!!

                    here are the pics.

                      Re: Opinions on Cort

actually, i like the guitar, for clean and blues it sounds better than my DX10D. Offcourse it's nothing compared to a usa-made guitar, but it's a backup and i'm on a budget. Doesn't look that bad either, i think i'm just gonna remove the gold pick-up covers because it looks too 'pimp' that way for me. The higher frets are a bit off tough, and the intonation is off too. I'll see if i can have those things fixes asap. Thanks for your replies .

You guys do realize that a LOT of the korean guitars by other manufacturers are built by Cort, don't you?
