• Ibanez Guitars Question...

What do you think the single nicest, best playing and sounding Ibanez ever is? (all models apply)
I am a huge Ibanez fan.
My pick for the best Ibanez ever is:
1991 Ibanez RBM1 Reb Beach model.
It has the neck of a John Suhr, great body balance, the trem and electronics config of a Steinberger and it holds the lowest action with NO BUZZ of any guitar I have ever owned. The tone is very balanced with tons of harmonics, the pickups are absolutely outstanding and it even comes in a beautiful case. The fit and finish is as good as any guitar I have ever owned from any manufacturer.
Whats yours??

Re: Ibanez Guitars Question...

I can't really come up with the single nicest, best playing and sounding Ibanez. But a few I've played that were nice were:

1) a buddy of mine has an Ibanez Voyager which was the precursor to the Reb Beach Model. Very easy to play.

2) JEM7DBK, I actually think these sound better than the 7VWH's. I think it might be because I prefer the Breed pickups.

An RGT3120 in Trans Violet that my dumdass sold a few years back! Great neck, solid construction, nice top, and a very stable trem. Pickups were dual PAF's that worked well with the whole setup. I've been looking for one ever since and describing it just adds to the GAS!

My 2 favorite Ibanez's which I no longer have were my JPM2 and my late 80's JEM FP.

Re: Ibanez Guitars Question...

My favorite of all the Ibanezes I've personally owned were a 1980 Artist AR-300, and the '78 FA-100 (ES-175 copy). The early 80's Artists are great guitars, no question. The recent AR-2000 and 3000 are supposed to be even better, but I haven't played one personally. By far the nicest playing and sounding Ibanez I've had the pleasure of playing was another '78 archtop Gibson L-5 copy that was built and signed by Tamura (who studied guitar building with John D'Angelico in the 40's). That was maybe the nicest archtop I've ever played (and FAR from the most expensive). The hollow body Ibanezes of 76-78 are still my all time favorite Ibanezes. Of the current guitars the Metheny models are my favorite, and an absolute joy to play. I wish I could afford a natural one pickup Metheny, man that would be heaven to see on a stand when I got home from work everyday!

An RGT3120 in Trans Violet

[/ QUOTE ]

Based on getting a RGT3120 in trans-violet last week, I'd have to agree! (awesome guitar!) Among my many Ibanezs (including an RBM1), I have a PGM300WH, USRG30, S1625FB, RG2570E, all of which I'd rate higher than the RBM1.

Re: Ibanez Guitars Question...

i think it's a toss up. i really find the original S series guitars to be ultra comfortable, but i feel the same way about the original jems with the maple boards and disapperaring pryamid inlays.
GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

I've played a bunch, and not all of them either but I can say I love the way the Artfield AFD25 AM-Z plays !!! It's a pleasure and a way different feel from all of the RG models. More Les Paul like but fast and smooth !!! Here's a pic for those of you who haven't seen my barrage of pics thus far :

There is a gorgeous RGT-3170 in the Ishibashi U-Box right now. But be warned; you're going to want it if you go looking at it ;-)
