Some interesting stuff coming out of Gibson this NAMM, e.g.:
* Les Paul "Vixen" and "Goddess" series guitars aimed at female players, with lighter weight, downsized, translucent pickups, "heather" ebony fretboards, etc.
* GT series guitars, with over/under dual truss rod, Neutrik cable locks, ghost flames, etc.
* John Sykes Les Paul Custom
* New Kramer models (come on, let's see a Baretta and a Nightswan! )

John Sykes. Now that will be a seller. I have yet to see a Neal Schon model after they announced it last year.

Too bad Gibson keeps their room under wraps. Not many of us at NAMM will get a chance to see these.

The news clip says the Gibson room will be open to the public at 5 p.m. each day:

"All Gibson USA model guitars including those announced above will be on display at NAMM 2006 in Room 204A, Level 2. Gibson Room 204A is open to the public at 5pm each day and available to press by scheduling an appointment with any press contacts listed below."

You're right, I suppose, but I still think it's pretty cool that they're doing this for such a great musician.

The thing I don't understand is why Gibson never offered a Ted Nugent signature guitar? His name is better known than most guitarists among the general public, and he has been a consistent and outspoken cheerleader for Gibson for decades.

Bawahaha! I remember going to NAMM in the late 80's (wish I could be there with you guys) and the Gibson booth was a ghost town. Kramer was busy introducing the Sustainiac, Jackson and ESP were busy, Groove Tubes was pretty big there, Marshall revealed the new high gain 900 series LOL! Everyone wanted shredders and no one wanted those old Gibson relics including me.

Damn how times change.

Sykes sig. will be very popular because how it looks, most of the folks don't have a clue who he is yet Sykes is one of the pioneers of tone, 80's riffs and shred guitar. I hope he gets more recognison when his axe hits the market.

I'm guessing they never offered a Nugent guitar because it would have to be a Brydland. Those are expensive!!!! I have wanted one for years. Street price around $6,800 I think.

Since the show closes at 6PM Thurs/Fri/Sat (and Sun at 5PM), they are only giving the 'public' an hour each of those 3 days...???

not so sure about that bro.

all the signature series from Gibson are ridiculously expensive, into the $4000+ level depending on model/endorser. I don't see that as the reason for no Nugent model, there must be something else. they haven't really done a lot of Signature models anyway.

Anybody find a pic of the Sykes model? All I found was the Frampton model.

I'm curious what the headstock inlays, and fretboard inlays for that matter, look like.

The links in the original post take you to HC and Gibson. There are some pics of the Hendrix V and such, but I could not find the Sykes LP.
