Re: 2006 Ibanez Catalog (New models)

I was wondering about the Marty model too, maybe Summer?
Shredmonster, RG3120 is where it's at for Ibanez, mahogany body with flamed maple cap, not thin sounding at all! It looks like it has been discontinued as it is no longer on the Ibanez website.

Oh, and the new Vai acoustic is the EP-9 now, with solid spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides, rootbeer finish and Aura blender system.

Hey, thanks for posting that about the EP-9!
Too bad it's now selling for $1200!

Yes, I agree, the RG3120 is a sweet guitar for the money and a mahogany body, can`t beat that!! Hell, why did Ibanez nix the RG421, that was awsome as well for the money, they make no sense. Jack.

Thanks for posting this. I am tempted! I LOVE the green vine inlay on the EP7. However, I'm afraid it would be too much like my current acoustic (great looking, OK sounding, solid top, lam sides & back). Didn't you have an EP7 (maybe still do)? What did you think of it, in terms of playability, neck thickness, and sound (especially unamplified, as that's how I usually play).

Yep, I had one, just recently sold it. It was actually a pretty cool A/E. I liked the somewhat thin neck for an acoustic and it sounded killer going straight into a PA. The unplugged sound was actually pretty good, but not loud. I bet the EP9 actually sounds good unplugged with the engleman spruce top and mahogany back and sides. I only sold my EP7 because I'm done with acoustic guitars. I just personally can't stand any of them, and I tried like around 6 just last year alone. I'm really happy with my acoustic sounds I get from my Variax.
