    Re: BC Rich at NAMM?

a few weeks ago a guy dropped off an old rich bich (mid 80's model i think...) to get setup at the guitar shop i work, and when all was said and done the thing played awesome. i always liked the weight of those guitars, i guess starting out playing bass i like to feel something hanging around my neck rather than a little light weight v or strat.

+1. big mistakes made on the imports. 1) restricting colour schemes (2) stupid fucking widow headstock (3) the endorsement of the bullshit speedloader (4) letting rosetti distribute them. get a jackson. it sounds better, NO FUCKING NECKDIVE, doesn't persperate after cleaning (what kinda lacquer do bcr use?!), and has a STRAIGHT NECK. and yes, there's actually a case for it in existence. I thought the new bolt-on design was quite interesting. Bolt on-neck, neck-thru feel.

I just wish they would limit the use of the widow headstock. I prefer the 80's pointed headstock myself.

I hate the scrotum holder headstock. I like the 80's Gunslinger headstock as well and the traditional R headstock (similar to a gibson LP headstock). Whats with this new bolt on design? How is it different?

              Re: BC Rich at NAMM?

It extends further into the body. The actual bolts are behind the pickups and the bridge bolts into both the body and the neck. The result is a bolt-on guitar where there is a neck-thru body/neck transition. With the way the components are attached, it would stand that there would be more resonance to the guitar as well.

The big drawback... The scrotum holder headstock... Not only is it the headstock, but the shape is is carried to the back of the guitar as well. I'll post pix when I can.

oh thats the new bolt on? I thought that was a neck thru with a retarded scrotum carved centerblock. Wierd! I wanna see closeups of that now. Intriguing.

                  Re: BC Rich at NAMM?

Another gripe is the early NJ's had Dimarzio pickups OEM, then during the Class Axe era they switched to EMG SELECT (crap) and to the current crappier BSDM or whatever they are called crappola pickups.

I wish I never sold my 1984 Rich Bich back in '88.

                    Re: BC Rich at NAMM?

Yea I'd change the Big Dumb Sound Machine pickups out for something better but mine have gold covers so it seems that its more hassle than its worth to get the gold covered duncans I want.

I wanna see the front of that V. I love V's, even if they have a testicular torture device as a headstock.

The handmade BCRs at NAMM were very nice. Well set up and constructed.

Hopefully that means they have ironed out the problems in their custom shop. I'll be keeping and eye on reviews of 2006 owners to see if it might be worth exploring the idea of getting a USA Rich in the future. I always wanted a modern classic. Like maybe a flame maple neck thru mockingbird with koa wings, rosewood centerblock and flamemaple stringers. I remember some old 80's mockingbirds with that same look/combo of woods.

Goddamn that looks cool!! I want that V! I've got a Speedloader NJ Jr. V... the bad thing about it is that over here it's impossible to find strings!
