Hey folks,
Been trying to put this project together for quite some time. Truth be told, I thought it would never get done, as the neck that I wanted to use needed some serious work (Full fret-dress). Wasn't sure when I would be able to fit that into the budget. Then my Bro Mike (MBreinin) goes and puts that crazy maple flame Customwoods neck up for sale, and the monster is complete !!! I've been wanting a 3-single coil Strat for a few years now. I guess that I came to the realization that of all the dozens of guitars that I have owned in my life, I've never had a traditionally confggured Strat. Lot's of single hum, dual hum, or H-S-S axes, but never S-S-S. I spent some time looking for a 3-tite Charvel, but those are few and far between, so I decided to put this together. She features:
-Customwoods Flame Maple neck
-Warmouth Alder body w/ Zebrawood top stained Black Cherry
-Lindy Fralin Vintage Hot pickups w/ bassplate option
-Blender Wiring harness from the good folks @ Acme Guitar Works
-Brass V-trem
For the first time ever I did the wiring myself. To be honest, it was easy! I had all the diagrams, so the work was pretty simple. I had some trouble getting the ground wire to 'stick' to the trem claw, but I think I've got that nailed now. All in all, I am very happy with here....Oh yeah, here's a couple of pics:
She still needs a good setup, which she'll get this week. Tonewise, she's got a killer vintagey Strat tone. Very clean and clear. Add a bit of overdrive, and I'm wailing Steve Ray licks! (well, doing my best anyway) I think I'm going to get a Keeley modded Ts-9 to go with her, as my Mesa's overdrive is a bit too much. We'll see... Let me know what you think!
