For about $1250~ these Japanese guitars kick the crap out of Gibson. For $3200 you are reminded of what real, high end mahogany is supposed to look and sound like.

True...but as it takes playing about 150 LP's to find a decent one, I'm sceptical.

Also- the $1250 spent with Tokai puts you into a guitar that is Gibson Historic Reissue / Custom shop in quality - long neck tenons, CTS pots, oil ~ paper caps, nitro paint and AAAA maple tops...brand new.

Depends on where sold.

ALS in USA and Canada means Korean.

ALS in Europe can still be MIJ.

Japan market, LS is MIJ.

I really like my Diodati's.
They're MIJ and sold in the USA.
Hence the different headstock and horn shape.
I pretty sure made in the Tokai Hamamatsu factory.
Least from what I can tell from the pickup cavity markings.

Which was meant for MIJs sold in Canada and USA.
