Any of you familiar w/ this model? There's one at a pawn shop near me that's been there for at least 2 years, tagged at $324. I don't have a pic, but it's a superstrat with 2 reverse slanted humbucker, floyd, maple/maple neck. I just keep thinking about that one, I know washburn does make some good guitars (but mostly crappy ones).

Re: Washburn Steve Stevens model?
I have one and they are pretty good. The neck is a little more chunkier than a Jackson/Charvel. I was going to say the $324 price is fairly good, but based on the last two ebay auctions, I'd say jtr654 is correct at $200!!

Re: Washburn Steve Stevens model?
There are Korean version of it and USA model.
USA model has Gold Logo,Washburn logo'd Schaller trem and Seymour Duncan JB pickups. For the price, if it is USA version, super deal. If is a korean version, it's litle overpriced as I have seen some going little less.

It was pretty expensive new, like 900 or something.Charvel 7308 (TMZ 008), Charvel Pro-mod (yellow), Jackson Soloist Custom (Yellow), Jackson SL2H-V Natural, Gibson LPS DB, Gibson LPS EB, Gibson LPCC C, Charvel Model 2 (scalloped), Jackson DK2M (white), Charvel Journeyman, Fender Classic Player 60's strat, Carvin C66, Musikraft strat mutt, Warmoth Strat mutt, Fender MIM Jazz bass, Epiphone Classical, Takamine parlor. Marshall 2203, Marshall JVM 210H, Splawn Nitro, Fender Supersonic 22, Line 6 AX2 212, Marshall 4X12.

Re: Washburn Steve Stevens model?
that is by far the nicest Washburn guitar I've ever seen.
most of what I've seen from them has been pretty bad and lots of low end stuff. but this one looks great.the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

Re: Washburn Steve Stevens model?
If it's the SS-40 then $200 is about right. If it's the SS-80, then about $500 or more is what they usually bring. The SS-80 is a great guitar for the money. I didn't really like the SS-40, but for $200 or less it might not be bad.

Re: Washburn Steve Stevens model?
I know about the Hamer SS models, I have an '87 SS1 Custom and an '87 SSII Custom. I'd really like to find the Centaura II (I have a regular Centaura), which I understand was meant to be the SSIII until Steve left Hamer. The Centaura II is the superstrat body w/ the two reverse hums, -very cool guitars, and pretty hard to find.
Coincidentally, when I bought my SSI (black, w/ crowns), the guy was asking "between $300 and $400", no naturally I handed him $300. He had a weird surprised look on his face, and said he was thinking of more than $300, so we ended up settling on $320 (good guess!). It had a replacement neck pup (original in case) which I removed and sold to my friend, getting me down to $300. And I was thinking "F-yeah!" for a long time after that, and everytime I think of the deal I got on that one.

Re: Washburn Steve Stevens model?
I should add that that was about 10 years ago, and they're not worth much more now than they were then.
At the same pawnshop w/ the washburn, last summer I found a late '70's Fender Champ (all tube) there for $110, -that was quite a deal.

Re: Washburn Steve Stevens model?
The SS40's have gone up and down in price on eBay over the years. I'm really surpised to one went for less than 200.00 as people have ponied up on the same model for alot more. (I really really wish I would have bought the SS80's that came up on eBay years ago for 200.00-250.00 that didn't sell) The SS80's have MOP dots and a few other upgrades.
I think they also made a SS100 but I have not seen one. If someone has a pic, please post it.
I thought the SS40's were US made tho..but still fine guitars. Well made even if they are Korean.
As mentioned..the necks are like baseball bats on these tho, but still, nice guitars just the hardware has something left to be desired on occasion. IMO, Washburn patented floyds have some durability issues.
As far as Washburn making crappy guitars, who hasn't? They've made some nice ones as well. The Nuno w/a stephens cutaway really shreds but, like Ibanez, not for everybody.

Re: Washburn Steve Stevens model?
Here are a few pics of my SS-80's. Also some pics of Steve Stevens's Famous Monsters and Barbarella bodies. I might have more pics of the SS-100, I'll see if I can find them.
