Looks to be, they say all spec's are down to original including neck etc. Looks like they are using the old style of painting which means they will fade etc... the only thing i see not original is the pickups of course, the are using burst buckers.

It appears these are better than the Historic reissues. Now the crybabies who bought Historic Bursts and claimed they weren't even close to spec, won't have anything to bitch about anymore.

Now they just have to add Firebirds to the lineup, and we'll be golden!

                  Re: Gibson VOS guitars

This reminds me of the tone snob debate...

Curt Cobain used crappy Jaguars and Mustangs - things people bought in pawn shops for $85 cause they were crap and now they are sacred.

Dime used shitty SS amps and people worship his 'tone'

Eveyone dreaded Japanese stuff and Jap squiers and knockoffs sold for pennies on the american dollar, now they sell for med-highend prices.

This is to fill the niche for the 1%, move along folks, I'll take a $800 USA Jackson or repaired neck Gibby standard and put the leftover money into my pocket. The 1%ers can have the 'correct' thing with all it's warts and newly purchased mojo....

BTW, did I mention it's still pretty cool!

I sure am curious about the prices also. My guess is $2500+ Jack.

Take a look at that SG Standard. I have one I just put on layaway at my local store. Compared to the other SG's I have played, that one is unbeievable. 1 piece mahogany body, 1 piece mah neck, shaved neck heel (which makes upper fret access a thing of beauty) and some nice pups (57 classics). It was hung right next to a 61 RI SG standard and the difference aint small. Tone and playability beyond what the RI offered. Plus the price is nowhere near as bad as I feared, just a bit over 2k. Don't knock em until you play em. I could care jack shit how close the original these come, all I care about is how the one I am getting plays. I will post pics when I manage to get her home.

Hey by the way, this is the 1st SG I have played that I like more than the standard I got from Scott awhile back. Some guitars are just worth the extra scratch.
