Re: Post pictures of your strathead mutts

My strat is in a period of flux. You all probably saw it in the classified, well I decided to keep it and just change what I didn't like about it, the neck and the pickups.

So I ordered some McGinnis pickups that sound like they will kick some ass. I also ordered a Pau Ferro stratneck with a Kingwood fingerboard. This from Warmoth. It should arrive in a few months. Why Pau Ferro? Well I wanted to keep it under 300, I wanted a dark wood, and I wanted something with a warm tone. I was pretty much looking at tropical woods because otherwise you have to get the neck finished which brings the price way up. So the usual suspects (Koa, Mahogany) were out. I originally was thinking Indian Rosewood but the price is more than I want to pay. So Pau Ferro was recommended. Having played a Pau Ferro fingerboard I liked the idea of it. As for Kingwood, well Kingwood tends to have pretty radical figure much like Cocobolo with color more like Brazilian Rosewood (though sometimes more purplish). So thats pretty much what I was looking for. As soon as the guitar is assembled I'll post some pictures. I think its gonna really look and sound badass.

Damn. Those are all awsome guitars! Great work. The Dime HRF is probably my favorite.

i just started working on this one. it is a GMW neck with a Wayne Charvel body. I used a chrome floyd and it now has a creme Dimarzio PAF in it. The body has a light stain on it to seal the wood. I may or may not get it painted one day. Plays nice.

It would be an absolute shame if paint ever touched that guitar. Beautiful

yeah but a nice trans finish would add some color yet still retain the beauty of the wood

Kev...stop showing off already....hahahaha...nice stuff bro.

I think my mutt is just oning to remain like that...I won't paint it....if i was to want it painted, I would just get a GMW body and have it painted there so I don't ruin this cool body.

                                Here is another mutt:
