Re: Post pictures of your strathead mutts
My strat is in a period of flux. You all probably saw it in the classified, well I decided to keep it and just change what I didn't like about it, the neck and the pickups.
So I ordered some McGinnis pickups that sound like they will kick some ass. I also ordered a Pau Ferro stratneck with a Kingwood fingerboard. This from Warmoth. It should arrive in a few months. Why Pau Ferro? Well I wanted to keep it under 300, I wanted a dark wood, and I wanted something with a warm tone. I was pretty much looking at tropical woods because otherwise you have to get the neck finished which brings the price way up. So the usual suspects (Koa, Mahogany) were out. I originally was thinking Indian Rosewood but the price is more than I want to pay. So Pau Ferro was recommended. Having played a Pau Ferro fingerboard I liked the idea of it. As for Kingwood, well Kingwood tends to have pretty radical figure much like Cocobolo with color more like Brazilian Rosewood (though sometimes more purplish). So thats pretty much what I was looking for. As soon as the guitar is assembled I'll post some pictures. I think its gonna really look and sound badass.
