06' Tokai LS85F in the house....pics inside

This guitar is sick...To say the least it's stunning in person, the pictures don't do it justice. Made in Japan, It plays as nice as any G***** Les Paul I've ever picked up (with the exception of a $5700 Murphy aged R9 I played recently....duh.)and the finish smokes anything in the two local GC's in my area







The fit and finish are amazing - as nice or nicer than any G word Standard on the shop walls. The Violin Finish color is killer. This guitar has tone to burn and plays as nice as anything else I own. I compared it to my Anderson Cobra, a pair of bucker loaded GMW super Strats, and a good ol' Fender American Standard Strat. Ran it through an Aiken Intruder into a Bogner oversize 2x12.

These guitars are the real deal. I cant imagine how much nicer they could be moving up the food chain.

Truth be told, it's a flame maple veneer over two piece solid maple top / two piece mahogany back. I realize that *veneer* is a super evil word round here these days, but I knew this was veneer when I got it [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] You've got to spend a few more bucks for solids - but at that point it's equivalent Gibson Historic construction.

Sweet looking Love Rock! I love Tokai guitars, I have Tokai Strat and her neck is getting better and better all the time. For a long time I've been looking for a Tokai LS80F or LS85Q. Damm... I really got to buy one!

That's really beautiful! I just got an '85 LC-60 about a month ago, and I'm now a hardcore Tokai fan. Why did it take me so long to discover these?!

For everything you described above, this is far and away the best answer. This guitar is just smoking cool, plays awesome, sounds awesome, is built and finished awesome... and if in the end you decide Les Pauls type guitars are not for you, you're into it for thess than $900 in a worst case scenario...You can't go wrong with these - just make sure you get a Japanese one and not the Korean version...

Shawn; they're everything a LP should be at 1/3 the price.
Does a Strat have to say Fender on it to be a strat? (G&L, Grosh, Lull, Charvel, Jackson, Hamer...). A Tokai LP is a 'real' LP as far as I'm concerned.

I heard that you have one of those Mojave amps. How are those amps? I can't seems to find many clips/reviews about them. Only ones i found were those that are posted on Mojave's webpage. I like how the Scorpion sounds on the clean channel, very clean and crispy. Any recommendations?

I find it funny how I see these threads always trying to compare the copy against the real thing.

Why is it that people must justify their copy against the real thing? Bashing and taking pot shots at the real thing? To make themselves feel better for not getting the real thing?

If you can settle for a runner-up with a glued on top - so be it.

I see plenty of threads where someone wants to trade their axe for a real Gibson - I don't see many wanting to trade for a copy.

Why can't these threads about copies just talk about how cool the guitar is, or what a nice price it is? Why does it always have to be an "us against Gibson" thread? I see enough of this shit on HC. If you dig your copy, that's fine - cool.

If the copies are so good, maybe we should see a bunch of bands playing copies instead of the real thing?
