Re: SX Guitars/Rondo Music

I'd rather switch to Ukelele than buy or play one of these Chinese guitars. Places where people are working 6 days a week, 14 hour days for approx. 1100 dollars a year don't get my support ever. I'd rather save and get something else or go without. It isn't simply about what you get for your money, it's what you're taking away with your money. I don't care if anyone else buys one (like I don't care if you eat veal) but buying Chinese is something that should be avoided if (or while) you can afford to.

Just for a goof someday, go to Google or Altavista and search on "Chinese facory accident". You'd be surprised how many people die or lose limbs from working to exhaustion for months on end so China, Inc. can take over the global frying pan market or whatever.

It would be much more effective if you typed in Chinese factory accident.

Interestingly enough, did you know that injured workers can sue their employers in China? You will probably see a huge drop in workplace injuries over there as a result, and an increase in the price of their producs too.

Muhahaha, just ordered one of these and a case.

If it's decent, I'll be putting a Duncan Custom in the bridge, and a GFS Crunchy PAF in the neck, and probably new tuners. The pickguard will be gone immediately.

I'm expecting it to need a fret level and polish, and a major set-up, but since I do it myself, it costs nothing. As far as I'm concerned, if the fit and finish is good, and decent materials are used, just about any guitar can be made to play nicely if you know what you are doing. Then it really boils down to whether you like the neck or not.

I think it's a nice looking guitar too. I did a mock up of it with the pickguard removed, and cream pickup rings with zebra hums. I like the shape better than the Agiles. The horn on the Agiles is too rounded off for my liking.

Thought the Yugo was Yugoslavian? Hense the "Yugo" nomenclature?

[/ QUOTE ] Yes, and Yugoslavia was a communist country.

                    [ QUOTE ]
Someone please explain to me why the controlling governments political leanings have ANY correlation to the quality of the product?

                    [/ QUOTE ]

Usually these countries control their people so that you have not much human rights and freedoms and certainly nothing like a safety agency. I mentioned Yugoslavia because the Yugo was such a crappy vehicle, why was it so crappy? My theory is that the workers were so frustrated with their working conditions and the government that they just didn't care about the product. There's much more to the Yugo story I am sure. Basically communist govts care so little about the people that the products' quality suffers.

You bring up some good points about other factors [ QUOTE ]

local cost of living, strength of the currency, technological level, population count. Those are all factors that outweigh the Communist/Socialist governing body.

                    [/ QUOTE ]

But I would disagree, as I believe the Communist gov't controls a lot of those factors also. A lot of Chinese products are produced using slave labor also. I have also read that the PLA (People's Liberation Army) gets profits from various factories/industries.

Possibly in the future Chinese products will improve (as Japanese and then Korean products historically did) but as for now, I boycott them, and encourage others to also. The Chinese gov't views the USA as the enemy, however so many US and multinational corporations take advantage of the cheap labor there, and you have Joe Q Sixpack blissfully ignorant of all the backstory, and hey that's fine, I may not be able to change what is happening but if you guys want to help the enemy go right ahead. Well, let's just say that I would rather give the Chinese a few bucks, than the muslim terrorists, and that's who ends up getting money every time you put gas in your car. At least the Chinese don't hijack planes and whatnot.

Nah, the Yugo was so crappy because it was essentially a FIAT (it was a licensed FIAT), built in Yugoslavia.

Aha, just like the Lada!!! My Dad had one of those. What a pile of dung. He also had a Skoda one time. My mom rear ended someone because the brake pedal fell off. She was probably going about 10 mph (if that), and the Skoda was totalled. It crumpled like it was made of paper. Me and my sister were in the backseat without seatbelts, and we didn't even get hurt because we were going so slow.
