• My '54 vintage Strat...

    By ESP

From what I can gather it's an '84-'86 ESP 400 Series. These were supposedly the first ESPs to be sold in the US.

NY-17 is written on the neck heel. NY=New York?

The only way this could be cooler is if it were an actual '54 Strat . I'm pretty sure the paint is even nitro.

I really want to like this one as I love the way it looks and it sounds super. I love big necks, but the V shape on this is taking some getting use to. Especially when playing chords up near the nut. I'm in the process of building a Strat, I may hold off if this one continues to grow on me

Very cool. Now all you need to do is route it for a humbucker and a Floyd, slap a single hum pickguard on it and toss in an old Charvel neck. Then you've got a pretty sweet Strat.

    J/K man, looks awesome.

Actually good stuff by my estimation. ESP did a good strat copy at one time IMHO.

Nice, and they even got the "Official" Fender shim correct. Nice color!

I just bought a DiMarzio strat in surf green with the big V neck and feel the same way.The neck is sweet but will take some getting used to.Nice ESP for sure.

Nice guitar! I love that color, and I love big chunky necks! The big chunky neck is the reason I bought my Eric Johnson Strat...

Daphne blue looks great with a white guard and maple board, and that's no exception. Congrats!

Dude, that is a VERY cool guitar. That color is badass, in a subtle kinda badass way.

So I assume you have to know that the neck on that guitar is the exact same neck that was on the early Kramer Pacers. George Lynch loved those necks.
That is a VERY sweet guitar.

From what I've read, I could see George Lynch liking these necks. I really love fat necks, I'm talking Warmoth fatback profiles, but this V shape is a bit different. I've played old strats before and it feels exactly like this, but I've never spent any time with one before. Plus it has those damn skinny frets

It's hard to see in the photos, but the paint has really faded and become almost pearlescent in some areas.

Another question, why didn't ESP clear over their logos? I guess they just got the parts from Japan already painted and assembled them.
