The 'cutaway' might help top fret access, but it looks like ass, as do those inlays.....

[/ QUOTE ]
I assume it would, as ESP's 24-fret necks go farther into the body than on a 24-fret Jackson.

dude, it depends on what you mean "Real EMGs". if you mean real as in active, you're right.

but they're made in the same place the actives are, here in the U.S., and the only thing is, these are passive.

and i think it looks so disproportionate, is because of the bigger lower horn, it looks like a really beefed up Rhoads. Like a non-cutaway King Rhoads perhaps.

and the bevels do look odd, definitely.

Alexi uses the HZ pickups himself, so this guitar is true to him in that way.

There is one of these in a local shop but with gold hardware, and I don't even remember noticing the inlays.

It just makes me realize how even the most metal Jackson guitars still look classy and clean. To me, everythign on this guitar screams fugly Jackson copy.

I like the inlays fine, and see nothing really disgusting about the guitar, but why pay more for a copy when you can get a 24-fret Rhoads on am limited run or a Jackson Stars model. I prefer 2 pickups anyway.

Are you sure Alexi uses the JE-1000 and not the Afterburner?
I know people prefer the JE-1000 mostly, but the Afterburners are currently available. Of course I'm sure he's a reluctant ESP endorser, he might like pissing them off...

I believe he did use the JE-1000. Not sure about now, though. According to the John, the Jackson Marketing Guy, "The JE-1000 was a Peak Select control (3 mini switches) and could be ordered with a gain boost as an additional feature."
That would be the JE-1000 G.

The Afterburner or PA-2 would be better, IMO, as they're just a straight gain boost, and the JE-1000 is like 20 years old and noisy anyway.

Huge control cavity for a one pickup guitar. I'll take a RR1 over that any day.

that guitar is almost as ugly as the guy who designed it

alexi told me personally this

"i got the EMGs in there, but, there, you know, not the active ones.....and then i got the jackson electronics in there" and i say "the JE1000?" and he says "exactly"

this was like during the first US tour after he got his ESP deal, when they toured with Iced Earth

if you look at most of his guitars you'll see a tiny switch on the bottom wing somewhere, I assume thats the JE1000

Does he even know exactly? The gain boost itself is the switch. The JE1000 is just a peak select control with three dip switches, can be used with or without the JE1000.
