If you're looking into the Asian LP / Strat thing, I would maybe bypass the Grass Roots stuff, spend a shade more money and get some thing from Tokai - the made in Japan stuff specifically. Phenominal qualit, pssible no better bang for the buckout there. Example - a friend who was an Edwards fanatic bought two Tokai Love Rocks from me recently and just wrote to let me know he thinks the Tokai's ar head and shoulders above better guitars. YMMV, but you can't go wrong.

For lawsuit Strats; Tokai, Greco, and Fernandes are pretty much comparible or better compared the "better guitars." Peronally, i prefer the 70s and 80s Fernandes strats.
