Anyone here heard of Rainer guitars? I found a very nice axe in a pawnshop today with that brand on the headstock. It was a 3 piece maple neck thru strat with mahogany wings, old school strat head, dual hums and what appeared to be a LP control layout, rosewood with mop dots, and brass V-trem. Very nice playing axe, and appeared to be very good quality. Definitely looked to be 70's or 80's vintage. I would like to buy it but I have no idea of the value. It's not in the blue book either.

Re: Rainer guitars
Hey it could be! Thanks for that John. I'm going to contact him tommorow and describe the guitar to him. The axe does look like a custom (not mass produced) to me. The quality is incredible, and it's a strathead neck thru! Don't be surprised if I go buy this tommorow.
Thanks again for the lead!My goal in life is to be the kind of asshole my wife thinks I am.

Re: Rainer guitars
Neckthru fullsize strats isn´t something you come across every day, and that thing sounds cool. I´ve seen a couple of similar ones of japanese origin from the early eighties, but I can´t recall the brand. Not Rainer, in any case.

Re: Rainer guitars
I went back and checked out the axe more thoroughly today. The guy won't sell it for less than 3 bills, and even at that I was tempted at first.....until I noticed a slight twist in the neck. I didn't notice that yesterday. It's likely repairable, and not very bad at all, but for 300 I passed. My goal in life is to be the kind of asshole my wife thinks I am.
