Yeah, great color combo. The maple neck really sets it off nicely

I love the MexiStrats! Every one that I've had has been absolutely great. Can't say that about all the USA ones I've owned. Viva Los MexiStrat!

I read the discussion on Mexistrats here last week. I went out and bought a brand new Arctic White maple neck for $325 at my local guitar shop. It's great. Chunkier neck than my Jacksons, not as chunky as my Les Paul, and the only maple fretboard I own.

Do you have some pics of your strat? that is exactly the one I've been gassing for..

              Review of my Mexistrat

Well, I've had it a little over a week now and am loving it. Not too fond of single coil pups, though. I've spent the better part of the last 5 years playing nothing but Jacksons, so I'm needing the warmth and attack of a humbucker, so I ordered a new pickguard (single hum route) and TB4 from Warmoth (new pot, shielding, knob, etc. -- I'll post pics once I get it modded).

Surprisingly, I'm not missing the use of a Floyd. I thought this thing would go out of tune like crazy, but it stays in tune almost as well as with a double locking system. But with tuning capability at the headstock, it's not that painful to retune quickly. And I thought I would miss the look of the Floyd and the fine tuners and all that, but I don't. The vintage bridge is solid and feels just as good as a Floyd, something I'm very surprised about.

Love the maple board. I see what all the Charvel fanatics are tripping over. And the S-head is really cool, too. I don't look mean or have long hair or anything, so I'm thinking overall, the Strat shape and look fits me better than a Jackson. That's not to say I'm abandoning Jackson, but you never know ...

I've been looking at the American Strats, too. They're considerably less than a USA Jackson or Charvel. I wonder why that is. You'd think a company that's been around since the 1940s would have higher-priced stuff than a company that's only been around since the '70s, and a company that's basically based their design around the other company. I was really hoping when the Charvels came out that they'd be less than a grand (the SDs, anyway), since they're basically a rear-loaded strat. Go figure ...

Anyway, I'm getting hooked to the strat shape and design. If, when I load up the TB4, I find that this guitar sounds as good as any Jackson I've ever played, I might just make the switch. The things I don't like are easily modded, and the things I do like about this guitar are everything that I've always wanted in a custom and was seriously considering going to Warmoth to build. But I'm not a luthier and really don't want to f**k with that, so this seems like a decent compromise.

Anywho, I'll post pics later of the upgrade. Cheers!
