I am a huge fan of the new USA SD Charvels, I wanted to pick up another guitar with a similar neck and a Floyd, these looked real nice. I have not seen any recent ones, are these still in production? I was looking at the Rock Legend model. Anyone here play one of these bad boys?

Re: Wayne Guitars?
Yes they are still in production, they have been selling direct for a year or so now, that is why you don't see them at any of the online stores anymore. I have always heard lots of mixed reviews about them, some say they are awesome, others say the opposite. I have heard the necks vary from guitar to guitar. I'm sure a owner will show up soon and give you better info.Come and get one in the yarbles, if you have any yarbles, you yunick jelly thou!

[/ QUOTE ]+1. And may I add that Michael Charvel(Wayne's son) is also helping build and paint the guitars alongside his dad. I've played a Rock Legend at a local dealer and eventhough the guitar played nice, overall, I still prefer one of the new re-issue Charvels. Not to mention that for a 1 hum, Alder body, maple board guitar it was way overpriced! Plus I'm not a big fan of the Wayne headstock."The BLUES is the tonic for what ails ya."

Yeah, those new headstocks are hideous! The old bottle opener headstock doesn't seem so bad now.I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

Re: Wayne Guitars?
It's really hard to figure out. I spoke to a retailer who advertised Waynes online, but since they went direct, the retailer just really knocked the quality of the guitars. The few that pop up on EBAY are really discounted so that should tell you something.

Re: Wayne Guitars?
Old Waynes are every bit as nice as anything you'll play. Stay under serial 260 or so, and youre fine.

Re: Wayne Guitars?
Thanks for all the good input. The one thing I will give to these guitars are some of the coolest custom paint jobs I've seen. I think Guitar Asylum has a Wayne Guitar Archive with some great pics. I think I'm sticking with the new SD USA pointy Charvels. For me, these guitars have the best playing necks out and just great overall quality. I also really like the Seymour Duncan TB-14 "custom 5" pickups that come with these guitars! I am a big fan of consistent build quality.

Re: Wayne Guitars?
I played an early Wayne last week and it was awesome...as good if not better than any of the new Charvels or GMW's that I have played. I've heard that the newer necks leave a bit to be desired when compared to the old ones though.

Re: Wayne Guitars?
One thing that has confused me about Wanye guitars is that every one I have ever seen has a serial number below like 160, so my conclusion is that he is issueing mutiple guitars with the same number (like multiple of the same model or something)."I''ll say what I'm gonna say, cuz I'm going to Hell anyway!"

Re: Wayne Guitars?
yeah that new headstock is freakin ugly.
actually the old one, although it can be hard to see this at first, was just a strat head with a bite taken out of the round part at the end.the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives
