  • Cool Ibanez

Ok, I was for a split second thinking about this, and I still kinda am for a beater (expensive beater) or just a screw around piece, but where the hell is the pickup selector on this? I've been staring at it for like 3 min and I can't find it. That middle pickup isn't my style either, but other than that I think it's pretty cool. I have other options, but I'm always looking for cool stuff, and I always liked these swirls...ah crap. Someone take my debit card away from me...

the selector is past teh volume, its not that hard to find if you know where it is I suppose, I wouldnt mind an 1570 and change the pickups to shred on...

I have no problem seeing it, it's above and to the R of the vol knob.

you must be hypnotized by the finish

You can do your own swirl for very cheap - someone on Harmony Central did it and it turned out fantastic.

If your into swirls, musicgoround has this one:
            http://www.musicgoround.com/gear/inv....asp?id=372862

At $699.99, I'm sure it is cheaper than the DCGL one. I believe the music-go-round one has a neck off a Prestige RG2570E which has the cool brown mirror inlays.

it is just me or did Ibanez capture The Last semi-decent original headstock design, thus rendering all other subsequent efforts (new GMWs, Wayne, Suhr, etc) abjectly hideous?

owing to the simple lack of additional shapes that could be created that made any cosmetic sense. as well as the branded and beautiful designs of some established and trademarked headstocks.

Well, since I need a new guitar (don't have an electric right now...again!) I went to see a friend @ a music store and told him about this swirl I was thinking about grabbing. He gave me an equivilant guitar in terms of specs and neck, the RG1570 I think it was, and gave me a price I can't/shouldn't refuse on it. He's kinda pushing even the discount he can give as manager, but he knows my situation and we're good enough friends that he helped me out. I'm getting the red sparkle one, the one that looks like a deep red probably on monday. I haven't been picky about finishes at all these days. A damn good guitar is a damn good guitar, and the price was great, so I pulled the trigger. I draw the line at pink though, I'll save those for Budman to buy Gonna throw a Dimarzio X2N in the bridge and I'm ready to rock again! I was actually thinking about a seven string, but I'm so used to tuning a 6 down to B that it dosen't matter anymore. But I got a message Schecter is working with Jeff Loomis to create a signature model, so I might look into that later on. We'll see...but that's it for now. I jumped to Ibanez (TEMPORARILY) till I grab a KV2 when I start gigging again

It's a fine design IMO. Kinda between traditional and pointy.

Thanks fong, but I actually put down a deposit on the red sparkle 1570, which came out to be a couple hundred less. I can live without the finish, but thanks for looking out for me

Reminds me of a bowling ball from the '70s.

Funny, I was thinking about that the other day. there really are not any good looking heads out recently at all. Fender,Jackson, Gibson, and Ibanez got them all I think

That guitar is a 2003(maybe 2004) NAMM Special edition, Ibanez will make one for the show and only allow a small amount of orders(20+ or 1 per sales rep). They usually go up in price. I was luckly to get 2 specials this year(Puzzle top and stained prestigues). I've seen that swirl guitar go for close to 3K.
