$3K would be reasonable, but $6k? And, I'm sorry, but Sykes is not as recognizable (i.e. "sell-able") as Hendrix, Frampton, Wylde, etc.
On a side note, I would love to see a white Alex Lifeson ES-355 in the inspired by series. Maybe I can email this suggestion to Gibson?Unleash the fury.....Texas style!

So I just need to sand more paint off an swap the hardware and my axe goes from $1400 to $6300? Hot damn, I hit the lottery LOL!
I've got a black LPC I bought used in '90 (80's model) and had a few dings and scratches. I went the other way and repaired it so it looks like brand new.Last edited by Bengal65; 04-24-2006, 09:56 AM.Tone is like Art: Your opinion is valid. Listen, learn, have fun, draw your own conclusions.

Not a bad idea. I like my hardware as-is (well, the pickguard an knobs are brand new - I'd like to find some old ones but not at crazy prices).
When Dan Erlewine repaired the neck/body join on my 1963 SG Special, I had him re-finish a huge chunk of the back (belt-buckle rash). I like some light aging (maybe?), but let's not get crazy (like the Syke's inspired by damage). I think I'd outlaw belt buckle playing with guitars if I could LOL!

Yes, that's funny. Ever since I picked up the guitar, some 40 years ago, I have never played with a belt on because of this. Once I was in a guitar store and I started taking my belt off to test a guitar. The salesman, goes, "whoa, you don't need to strip down to play this guitar". I told him it was just habit.Tone is like Art: Your opinion is valid. Listen, learn, have fun, draw your own conclusions.
