  • Lookie what I've got coming

It just completely slipped my mind the exact year, but it is an 83-84 USA Hamer Vector. It has the original vintage sustain block trem and DiMarzio humbuckers made specifically for Hamer.

This is what I bought yesterday and haven't told my wife about, yet. This is also the reason why I've got a bunch of parts for sale in the classifieds.

    More when it arrives.

Very cool Travis! I had a KK Vector, and it played smooth as silk...one of the ones I shouldn't have parted with!

Nice score, Travis. I hope your wife is the understanding kind. Enjoy the Hamer.

Well, the pickups are stamped "Hamer" on the baseplate. So they were made by DiMarzio specifically for Hamer. I can't say what DiMarzio pickup they would be most like, however. But for the early Hamers in the late 70's, they were PAF clones. They progressively got hotter over the years. I'll post a full tone report when it arrives.

It's here!! I haven't had a chance to restring it and set it up the way I like, yet. But the preliminary report is in, and it is good. The DiMarzios are better than I expected. I might just be keeping them in there. The neck is quite fast, slimmer than some of my other Hamers. But it's not uncomfortably thin. Right now, the sustain block trem is fully blocked. I haven't decided whether to keep it as is or unblock it.

The sound, kind of Judas Priest-ish.
