I've been thinking of getting an LTD - JH 600 as a beater guitar

Fett's got the right idea - buy low sell high. In the year 3006, people will be killing for a real "wood" guitars LOL! This thing will be worth millions!

Thats considered high end to Fett.

BTW... some of those older Japanese strats with the funky switching and plastic hardware play pretty darn good.
My first guitar was a Sears Silvertone. I got the guitar and the amp used at the pawn brokers for $69.00. I played that guitar for close to 3 years.
It was very similar looking to the one that you just bought Fett.

For those of us who started playing 30 or more years ago, lots of us started on guitars like that. Mine was a Prestige brand, 1 single-coil pickup. Looked a lot like that one too. So it's a nostalgia thing, and they did play pretty well, as well as say a decent Squier Strat.

Of course we moved up as soon as we could, but now many years later it takes you back to being a 14-year-old kid at the start of a journey.

Its old school. Many of us old time shredders started on guitars like that one. Thats what you got for $100.00 back then. Nowadays you can get a really nice playing brand new guitar for $100.00

The bridge floats and it's somewhere in the fucking box with popcorn.

jgcable, i'm with ya. my first electric was a late 60s maxitone. i've recently learned that they were made by ibanez. i don't have it anymore, but i wish i still did. it was this guitar, but fiesta red. it's been sitting on the bay for years, but there's no way in hell i'd pay that much for it. it was a really nice playing guitar though. here's a different one...same body and neck, but i think that guard is a replacement, and that humbucker is certainly added.

The pickguard is aluminium and it's solid wood, not plywood. Mahogany to boot. Anybody seen my bridge?:ROTF:

yeah, my guitar was mahogany; i remember the dark wood underneath the chips of paint. being a kid who wanted a warlock, it was kind of a lame alternative, but looking back at it, i'm glad i had it.

Mine had those funky chrome toaster looking pickups and the pickup selectors were 3 white totally "mod" rocker switches. It might have even had a few slide switches on it too. I played it for years. 1st through the 10w SS piece of crap amp until I "upgraded" and played it through my home stereo using an old booster pedal. I don't remember the name of it but it was a really small square box that looked like one of the Guyatones.
