I was always under the impression that Sen was Japanese Ash. That's not so?
Actually it is Japanese, but in the basswood "family"...not ash.
I have to look it up, but there are several didfferent names for Japanese species of Ash.

Apparently there are many names for Sen as well:
Harigiri
Castor Arabia
Sen-No-Ki
Nakada
Tse Tsin.
I also found this tidbit about Sen:
SEN
Kalopanax spp.
Kalopanax pictus (and synonyms Acanthopanax ricinifolius, Kalopanax ricinifolium, Kalopanax septemlobus), of the family Araliaceae, the ivy and ginseng family
In the USA this wood is frequently sold as “Japanese ash” and while it does look a great deal like ash, it is not in fact related to ash. I am particularly grateful to Paul van Rijckevorsel for clarifying this for me, as I had mistakenly included sen on my ash page.
In Japan, where it goes under the trade name Harigiri, this is a very popular wood for panelling and furniture. In the USA it is frequently sold as veneer.
What you can learn on the net!!!

Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.
Nice guitar. I'd always wanted a destroyer from when Adrian Smith had one on the Killers tour. Finally picked this one up a little while ago from E Bay. Had it shipped in from Japan.
Like I said, it's an Ash '76 Explorer (NOT a Destroyer).
If it is a '76 IBANEZ, it is a Destroyer...that was what they called Explorers....like they called V's Rocket-Rolls and Modernes they called Futuras. The guitar pictured above is a Destroyer II.
Please, if you have the chance, see if it is still there.

Yeah Sanc...they've always been called Destroyers...the only difference happened when Norlin the Gibson parent company in the 70's and 80's) sued, or threatened to sue Ibanez for infringement, thus having them change the body shape.
Actually, to be technically correct the guitar was not known as either the Explorer or Destroyer in the mid seventies. It was known as model "2459". And unfortunately, yes it has sold.
