anyone ever hear of or play meanstreet guitars? They seem pretty cool for the price. I'm interested in the evolution model. Any experience especially with the fret work and neck?

I have heard that they are an ok guitar, but poor quality. I was looking into them at 1 time but decided against it. Paul

We had a used EVH Kramer replica at work once. It seemed put together well enough but the fret ends were hanging off the side of the neck a bit, kind of like a $99 Squier. Other than that it was cool but I dunno, it didnt seem like the nicest guitar and the guy said he paid $1000 or so for it new.

Their website says $475 for the 1984 replica. Meanstreet is owned by a guy who used to post here quite a lot as Trillian Guitars. Haven't seen him here in a couple of years but he seemed well-respected by the other longtime JCFers.

I have heard good things about them over on EddieVanHalen.com. However, that can often be taken with a grain of salt as many of those guys over there think a MusicYo 1984 is better than an Art Series Charvel.

From what I know they are good guitars, and better values than many. They often need a little tweakage to be right where you want them, but they are a good platform if you are willing to invest a little time and money into them.

Mitchel has recently introduced some new models, and they are pretty cool. I have often thought of picking one up myself.

Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

              nah, two different people.

i thought i'd read somewhere that they're OLP guitars reworked or something to that extent.

Ah, then I must have gotten mixed up in the infamous alder vs. poplar thread. Someone bagged on using basswood and Trillian I think defended it.

As far as being OLPs, well that model is 3x3 tuners, like a Wolfie, and not 4x2 like an Axis. Also, OLP doesn't make VH1 or VH2 or 1984 copies to my knowledge, do they? Meanstreet basically has a version of every EVH era guitar. And while I wouldn't rate their Intruder or the MusicYo 1984 against the Art Series, I would still prefer to have a Meanstreet 1984-style, just because I can't justify $2639 for a basswood single-hum Frankenstrat, even if Ed did Krylon it himself. I'll take Newc's Krylon work, he's a lot cheaper, and here at least, almost as famous!

Or better yet, buy a Model 2 body, Warmoth Strat neck with Floyd nut, OFR and a Duncan Distortion - not to mention some Krylon and masking tape - and do it that way - the REAL Eddie way!

Thats right, man. NNG (Newc N Ghoul guitar works, ltd) will get your stuff done right.
