  • Single Humbucker Guitars Are Crap??

Is this true? lol just wondering...

btw this has NOTHING to do with Alexi... before you guys jump down my throat..

I'm just asking: wouldn't one pickup and one knob limit your sound/tone in a guitar?? If so, why are they so popular?

It's a matter of personal preference. Period.

Yeah, but my real question is:

Is it true that it pretty much limits your sound options?

Yes, a single pickup guitar will not have as much versatility as a guitar with multiple pickups. And some people don't want / need that versatility.

No. You can have a push/pull pot to split the coils or run them in parallel. But I'd prefer to have a tone knob as well on a single hum axe.

Personally, I think 1 humbucker guitars are stupid and I don`t even give them a 2nd look, what a waiste of wood, especially if they are all mahogany Jack.

If you play lead in a metal band, why would you need more that one pickup?:ROTF:

Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

I like to keep the pickup thing simple. The KISS principle 1 pickup and that's all! I like the guitar to have no knobs at all, just the pickup wired at 11 and a kill switch on the cord similar to the one Planet Waves makes. Much less hardware to clutter the top of the guitar.
Now that's wood conservation. Less good wood turned to chips and saw dust, plus you can see the beauty of the wood!:ROTF:

I don't use a neck pickup, because I don't personally like the sound or lack of crunch that you get with one. I don't use a lot of effects either. Whoop-de-fuckin-do!!!

When did the forum get overrun by 12 year olds?

Jeez I'm sorry man I didn't mean to cause so much damn commotion, it was just a simple question because I was interested in buying an RR-J2SP, so I wanted to know if single-hum axes were any good...

So do you guys think the RR-J2SP is a bad idea for a guitar because its only a single-hum?
