  • ...used to hate IBANEZ's... until NOW!!!...

I see somebody else had a similair experience!

I picked up an SZ520QM. Fuck yeah.

I still don't like Ibanez's, but these are pretty kickass.

ibanez is one of the only guitar companies that i just cant stand. ive played quite a handful of prestige RG's and S's. The RG's aint bad, necks are just too thin for my hands. The S' series is absoulute dog shit though. you cant get a decent sound out of something so tiny

I've never really tried Ibanez. I wouldn't be opposed to giving them a shot, but when I think of a heavy metal axe, I just think Jackson. Ibanez to me means "virtuoso" guitar for the likes of Satch and Vai. I'd probably like it more if I was more of a virtuoso player, but that ain't going to happen.

From the picture of the axe posted, I would have guessed it was a Schecter from a distance. It doesn't look anything like the typical Ibanez heritage of guitars (Jems, 777s, ???).

I totally agree. I tried one and the neck on the SZ guitars are amazing. The pickups are not bad either.

Only two brands of guitars I get really excited about: Ibanezes, and Jackson/Charvels.
            I'm not Ron!

The long scale 7 string Ibanez prestige that I used to have was a damn nice guitar. 1077XL or something like that.

the schecter c1s are better than Sz520, The ibanez SZ sounds dead.
If you're looking for Ibanez that really kicks asses try to find an SC1620, its quality rivals to my jcustom rg.

I love my RG's - never really played the S series, but I would give it a try. I also love my Jacksons, Gibsons and ESPs. They all play great and one isn't particularly better than another - just different.

Those are pretty nice. I almost bought one but I went with the schecter because of the inlays and jumbo frets.

I used to have one of those. I loved the feel and tone of it plugged in, but acousticly i thought it lacked. I've even been thinking of buying another one.

Yah, I've got one just like it. Compares very favorably
to others I own that are worth a LOT more, including
my '75 LPC. The neck isn't too tiny, and the maple
top isn't a veneer, but quite thick. I also like the
molded-in neck joint and the staggered string anchoring.
The bridge has cutouts where the strings pass
through the back so you can get a very extreme
angle to the body for nice sustain. And, the 25.1"
                        scale feels nice for bending...

Yeah, that guitar doesn't thrill me. I'll take my RG 570 over that one any day.

And so now any guitar thats a carved top strat shape and has a flamed top with chrome hardware is a Schecter rip-off :P Looks nice, but I prefer the looks of the one RG350 I'm looking at.
