It just dawned on me - isn't the old Wayne headstock shaped exactly like a Fender Strat headstock, except for the cut at the lower part of the ball?

Yes. Which is probably why they had to change it. I'm sure they got a letter from Fender's lawyers.

That is sweet. I remember seeing one just like it when Waynes first came out. It may even be the same guitar. Very nice score!

It may be. It's serial #131 which I think dates around late 2001/2002. If you go to the website, and check the gallery, there is a picture of one just like it in there. The only one I saw. So it may be mine.

Nice axe! The Waynes are holding pretty good value, but not sure I would have paid $1800.00 for it. Then again, I've paid more for a lot stupider things! I dig the neck!

Yeah the early Waynes (especially with graphics) appear to be holding their value nicely has many folks prefer the beefier/early style neck shape.

Its not a Charvel, but its cool and I agree on the older headstock being cooler. I am just confused why the thread has not been moved.
