I like the Jackson D profile, which is usually somewhere between a Wizard and Wizard 2 neck... The Wizard is a little thin for my tastes, and the Wizard 2 is a little thicker than I like, but next to the Jackson D, I like the W2 neck 2nd best.
The 2nd Amendment: America's Original Homeland Defense.
I've got a Sl2h-Mah and an Ibanez Prestige RGA321 with the Wizard neck. I like them both, but I like the Sl neck better. Wizard neck is 16" radius all the way up. The Sl compound-radius is a little more comfortable, however, the Ibanez neck feels more "organic" to me. Maybe its the unfinished neck, but I feel more connected to the guitar when playing the Ibanez.
A custom Soloist with an unfinished neck would probably be the best of both worlds for me.
I guess it depends on what mood I'm in. I have 3 Ibanez guitars and I like to play them every once in a while, but I really like my LP classic and Charvel neck. I've never played any of the DK models.
I think a little thicker neck gets better tone and sustain also.
I use to have an Ibanez Jem. Very thin flat neck. Fast but my hands got tired and it was hard to get good vibrato because there was not a lot to grab on to.
After that I got an SL2 which was better. Then I got a PC1. Thick neck compared to these other guitars and by far a much better feel and tone.
I guess you also have to go by your hand size but I know guys with small hands that love the larger necks. I also think it is a myth that you can play faster on a thinner neck in most cases.
I think it all depends upon how and what you play also. Some guys just like rhythm and like to play thin necks. But if you want tone and sustain especially if you solo I think a thicker neck is better.
I have done comparisons by plugging in the Jem and then the PRS I had at the time and then the Jackson Soloist. I have seen 2 G3 concerts live and have 2 DVD's of them also.
I can always tell that Ibanez sound for some reason compared to other guitars. They have a thin sound - a processed sort of sound. I don't know why but I can tell especially when Vai and Satch are up there and Eric Johnson or Yngwie have other brands like a Gibson or Fender.
I have the Petrucci one also and I can tell when all 3 of those guys have Ibanez they all have "that sound." I don't know how to describe it other than thin and processed which is what my Jem sounded like.

My hand seems to cramp up more on Ibanez necks when I try to play fast stuff. How come so many people, though, choose to endorse Ibanez over Jackson? You would think Jackson would have more pro signature guitars.
I love Ibanez necks. I love my Soloist's neck as well, and the Jem necks. I can't say I like one better than another. that would be like saying I liked one of my kids more than another. I love them all. When i get a guitar and I don't like the neck, I get rid of it ASAP. Anything else, like harware or pickups I can swap out. If the neck is right, the guitar is fine with me.
The bound Wizard necks, like the ones on the early 90's RG7xx guitars are fantastic necks!
it is a myth that you play faster on a thin neck. you are playing the fretboard, not the back of the neck. as long as the neck is smooth, and fills out the cup of your hand when you fret, then the guitar will be as perfect as you're gonna get

It is a myth, well unless you are someone with small hands, then i find it easier to control the board and just more confortible.
I love the original wizard neck, have to guitars with it on and extra extended 24 frett maple neck from a rg550 that i am either going to use for a project or sell, i just havent decided yet.
Yes give them to me super skinny, if i am not getting bruised why having sex it is no good LOL

Heh, cos Jackson are tightwads when it comes to endorsements, and Ibanez are willing to shell out, probably.

It might just be the Dimarzios more than anything? They do tend to have a distinctive sound, like it or not. And personally, I don't think Ibanezes sound thin, listen to Paul Gilbert. Or Satriani. Vai's tone might be a bit bright and thin, but hey i'm sure that's the way he wants it

I have small hands and I like my ke-2's neck and my 7 string Ibanez's neck the most, go figure! They are not pc-1 thick but definitely thicker than any Ibanez I've played and my dinkys...
