  • anyone have a Schon guitar???

    Hey guys,

Do any of you have a Schon guitar? I love the body shape and was thinking of trying to find one. Any info (neck shape, fit and finish, etc.) appreciated.

I had one that had been damaged quite badly. It was repairable. One of those ebay project guitars. It went back together ok not a great guitar in my book.Didn't like the weird tail piece.ED had a bunch of them in his shop last time I was there.
        Really? well screw Mark Twain.

Ditto about Ed Roman. I was in Vegas last November and stopped in his shop. I think I counted over 80 Schon bodies that he had hanging on the back wall of his shop. I think 3 or 4 were finished and hanging with the rest of the inventory but the rest were unfinished. Might be worth a call to see what he wants for one.

Hah, 1k for an unfinished guitar that he has tons of. That's just plain stupid. He's gonna have those things for years if that's what he expects to get for them.

I always liked the look, I would love to get ahold of a legitimate Jackson version.

I actually have 4 ,two Jackson made ,two Larrivee made . The Jackson ones are both single cutaways the Larrivee are both double cuts all are Neck thru . The finish and the necks on the single cuts are Jackson all the way they were only made for a short while in 1986. (the neck profile are like my 85&86 soloist) The Larrivee necks are slightly thinner and only have 22 frets . Frets on all are thin high profile. (think tall fender frets ) Any other question just ask . John

Mine was a Larrivee then because it was a 22 fret. What pickups came in the Larrivee? Just curious mine came as a bare body with just the pots and the bridge.
Ed Roman has lots of stuff bodies necks etc.I don't think he really cares if any thing sells right away, he knows down the road he will get what he is asking.JMO

Don't overlook the Larrivee versions. I had a Larrivee Voodoo electric (their spin on a RR V) and it was an extremely well made instrument, with gorgeous ebony board, Schaller tuners, Kahler Pro, neck thru, and a super comfortable neck. I sold it. I'm dumb. It's the one piece of gear I sold that I'm really pissed about.

PJ Marx made Schon pickups were standard in Larrivee Schon's but you could get them with EMG's .
