you guys can split the hairs however you want. i do know that lee is knee deep in using his own cnc for some incredible new stuff. i'm not 100% sure who runs the cnc machine for any given neck or body and i don't care. all i know is that gmw makes fantastic guitars and lee has been very good to me.

i'm not sure why people like to dwell on this stuff anyhow. all the major and most minor builders use a cnc machine. why on earth would you care who operates the cnc machine or if it is co-located with the guy that does the fret dress or paint job?

if you ever went to floyd rose's facility you'd have to go to several disconnected small office/work areas to see the whole operation. so if you were just in one place you could conclude that they did very little. but i've seen with my own eyes how they make their own bodies, wind their own pickups, and make their own pickguards. but schaller makes their bridges and they send the guitars to a guy in the area for paint. i'm cool with that.

the zion facility is here in raleigh. it's all self contained.

i know suhr does it all.

all of the builders have their own methodology and do whatever works for them.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

      Put very well.
I not trying to star anything. I just dont like when people try to make GMW sound like a parts guitar. I have 4 of them and to me they are the best.
Like I said I just got a new one yesterday and I cant get over the quality and feel of it. I have played it for the past 2 days and its unreal. The quality is every bit as good as Suhr and Anderson. And the price is $400 to $500 cheaper.
Hippietim, I saw your mockups of the hotwheel guitars. Very cool.

I just got off the phone with Lee Garver.
He told me that they make all parts going onto a gmw guitar.
        Except of course the hardware.
There are 3 different workshops that they have.
1 is for assembly, 1 for paint, and 1 for wood working (necks and bodies).\
They do not outsource any of this. This came directly from Lee's mouth.

I have a question for the knowledgable folks that keep in touch with Lee. What kind of guitars, aside from his new line, is Lee building? I mean, what kind of guitars can you buy (style wise) from GMW? The strat shaped guitars are out of the question, but is he still building Les Pauls, Flying V's or Super Strat guitars (like Jackson or ESP)? I would be great if he could update his website and state what is he building or is willing to build?

I don't know how anyone can rag on GMW, Gibson, or any other manufacturer's quality control, especially after the last couple of "runs" by Charvel.

well yeah. it was heavily pruned b/c the whole purpose of the thread was asking about gmw quality consitency. granted, tons of threads get derailed here, but whatever. a gmw board pissing match didn't really answer the question of the original post, ya know?

                        Agreed 100%

To answer the original question, it's been about 4 months since I got a one two punch of dueling hardtails, but the creme colored one is one of the best players I've ever owned - GMW or otherwise.

Yeah, I thought that might cause some commotion after I posted it, but no need to kick my teeth in. I guess tact isn't one of the requirements for being an admin around here...
